Mid-Week Miscellaneous

As always there is plenty to discuss in this edition of Mid-Week Miscellaneous.....Manny Ramirez (currently #40 on the RBSF Ladder) makes a return visit to Fenway this weekend, this time as a member of the White Sox. Manny used an interpreter during his introductory press conference in Chicago earlier this week, refusing to speak English. While it used to be said that this type of behavior is just "Manny being Manny", I think it's clear to most folks now (certainly the Dodgers among them) that it is simply just "Manny being a moron".....Speaking of morons, Tiger Woods and the PGA Tour come to Massachsetts this weekend for the Deutsche Bank Championship in Norton. Unfortunately Mass native James Driscoll will not be able to play in front of his home crowd as the fileld for the FedEx Cup is now down to 100 players. Driscoll finished 133 on the standings....Congratulations to Clay Buchholz of the Red Sox who was named A.L. Pitcher of the Month. In 6 August starts Buchholz finished 4-0 with a 1.03 ERA. With another month like that and it will be nearly impossible to deprive him of this year's Cy Young Award.....Thrilled to see that Mark Herzlich appears ready to go for the Boston College season opener. This is the early favorite for "Moment of the Year" when the 4th Annual RBSF Awards are announced next summer.....these and any other topics on your sports mind are open for discussion right here in MWM....

Kovalchuk's new contract with the Devils approved. What does that mean for Savard?
This is a ridiculous situation the NHL has created by the way.
I agree that Kovalchuk's contract did circumvent the salary cap, but why didn't they rule on these other contracts when they were signed?

Thought Hurricane Earl was going wipe out New England with Tiger and Manny in town on the same weekend. Apparently their giant egos drove it out to sea so I guess some good came of this.

Did anybody see the story on Rumeal Robinson being found guilty of 11 counts of bank fraud in Iowa?
Basically conspired with a loan officer to steal more than $700,000 to support his "lavish" lifestyle.
