The Draft Lottery was held tonight for the 2010 NHL Draft, and the Bruins entered with the 2nd best odds (courtesy of the Phil Kessel trade) of landing the #1 pick. And while the B’s 18% chance of landing #1 did not come to fruition, even more importantly is the fact that their 39% chance of dropping to #3 didn’t either. The Bruins will select #2, meaning that barring an unlikely trade they will wind up with the player that the Edmonton Oilers do not select out of Tyler Seguin and Taylor Hall (Peter Chiarelli has already stated if he keeps the pick he’d take one of these guys). Although Seguin was rated slightly higher by Central Scouting due to playing center while Hall is a wing, it appears from all accounts that both players should be headed to NHL stardom and contributing as early as this coming fall. Hall is from Alberta, but states he grew up a Calgary Flames fan (the equivalent in Edmonton of telling Red Sox fans you love the Yankees) and wears #4 in honor of Bobby Orr. Since it appears he’d like to end up in Boston, I’m rooting for the B’s to get him. (For video highlights, click on the prospects names: Seguin and Hall)

I was sure we'd be #3, so psyched. This is a no-lose position for Ciarelli. Literally impossible for him to do what 100% of other people wouldn't do (unless he trades it)
