Sox Notes: What to do with Lowell?

The Red Sox tried unsuccessfully to trade him to Texas, signed Adrian Beltre to replace him, have Dave Ortiz, Kevin Youkilis and Beltre manning the only positions he could play....and yet Mike Lowell is stating that he's even healthier this year than he was a year ago. So what will happen with Lowell in 2010? Will he be traded? Released? Stick with the Sox? Will he be disgruntled with a bench role? Will this become a distraction? How do you see the Mike Lowell situation ending up?......this and other Sox talk is open for discussion right here.....

Lowell seemed bitter a year ago when they team's attempt to sign Mark Teixeira would likely have led to his departure....so I can only imagine he's 10 times more bitter about them actually trading him (although it didn't get finalized). Unless he agrees to a role off the bench of being the DH against lefties...something of that nature...I would seriously consider saying thanks to Lowell and handing him his walking papers to allow him to find a place he could play.

Perhaps if he can prove he's healthy and capable of being productive in spring training a trade market could open up for him.
