The NBA's All Star weekend is upon us. Follow everything from the 3-point and Slam Dunk contests to the game itself right here. Celts point guard Rajon Rondo is making his first All Star appearance and will be joined by teammates Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, perennial selections. Chime in with your thoughts on the happenings of my favorite All Star celebration.....

Pierce won the three-point competition, hitting shots while Barkley was trashing him! But I don't think he endeared himself to his detractors by bragging about being "one of the best shooters in NBA history." It was nice to see Paul, Garnett, and Rondo have something to celebrate again.
Pierce's tweet after the 3 point contest "Just wanna say I told so . 10 3pt king ahhhhh"
Rondo played basically the whole 4th quarter. Weird. Wade MVP. KG barely played - Pierce was ok - Rondo wasn't anything great - especially since LeBron took the ball up a lot.
Melo had a chance to win it and missed.
How was the dunk contest? I assume it stunk because Nate Robertson won and the only 2 dunks of his I saw were really boring/bad. There has to be SOME way to make the dunk contest better....it used to be SO good!
What if they did it on a 9 foot hoop?
Terrible thing for Pierce to say.
... But it might be true.
Didn't see the game.
They should make it so the dunk contest only comes up once every 3 years, or every other year. Give time for guys to get hyped, think about the elaborate dunks. Also give a value for owning one of those trophies.
Right now we are inundated with dunks, and because of the way the money has risen, the media has risen (though I hesitate to use that word based on the amount of idiots I hear on tv, or wherever spouting misnomers about every sport),
it has made the average fan too "savvy," and really, extremely hard to "wow" on any dunk.
There is no value to the award.
Strange though, considering it is one of the most valued "moves" in sports.
Maybe you're right, Luke. The dunk contest was definitely lame; even the announcers refused to pretend otherwise.
