Pending phsyicals, it appears the Red Sox have sent first baseman Casey Kotchman to the Seattle Mariners for utility players Bill Hall. The 26-year old Kotchman was acquired at the trading deadline last season from Atlanta for Adam LaRoche, and hit just .218 with one homer and 7 RBI over 95 at bats for Boston. After the Sox signed Adrian Beltre to play third, they knew Kevin Youkilis would be their full time first baseman, and thus Kotchman became expendable. Hall has spent significant time at 2B, 3B, SS and OF...and should be the Sox backup just about everywhere. His acquisition enables them to send Jed Lowrie down to Pawtucket so he can get regular playing time and show that he is fully recovered from his recent injuries. Hall just turned 30. In 8 major league seasons Hall has hit .251 with 104 home runs (34 hit in 2006). He spent all but the last 34 games of his 865 career contests with the Brewers. Welcome to Boston Bill...and good luck Casey (we hardly knew you).

4. Wade Boggs
5. Jim Rice
6. Ty Law
7. Cy Young
8. Troy Brown
9. Mike Haynes
10.Babe Ruth
Kotchman was unimpressive...but I'm sure will blossom somewhere else into a decent player...so young still. Hall? Whatever....a good backup, replacement guy who once had some pop...

Can't believe Babe Ruth is #10! What the heck? Where's Mike Lowell? Does that count as 1 syllable? Low-ell 2 syllables, or Lowell altogether? Okay, I am going to leave this blog now, before you think I am an absolute freak.
Blogger Mitch told me about Bill Hall:
1) can dunk a basketball
2) likes to play texas holdem
3) always hits a home run with the pink bat on mother's day
