High School Spotlight: Gennaro & LaSpada

In this week's edition of High School Spotlight we feature a pair of Eastern Mass standouts that will be doing battle on Thanksgiving: Chelmsford running back Joe Gennaro and Billerica quarterback Nick LaSpada. Gennaro is currently the leading scorer in Division 1, having rushed for 21 touchdowns (126 points) including 7 games with multiple TD runs. LaSpada is the leading TD passer in D1, having thrown 21 touchdown passes on the season. The Billerica signal caller also has 7 TD runs of his own this season. After a 22-16 Chelmsford win in last year's Turkey Day meeting, LaSpada and the Indians will be seeking revenge this time around. Gennaro, a junior who has rushed for over 1,300 yards in just 9 games, and LaSpada, a sophomore who will be leading Billerica to face Everett in the D1 playoffs win or lose tomorrow, may have opposing ways of inflicting damage on defenses...but Merrimack Valley defenses are in agreement that these two stars certainly know how to cause damage. Good luck to both tomorrow!

Of course the High School Spotlight jinx was alive and well on Thanksgiving as defenses dominated the game.

Billerica won 17-0. LaSpada didn't pass for a TD and Gennaro didn't rush for one.

Billerica/Everett winner will move on to play the Brockton/Xaverian winner in the EMass D1 Super Bowl. 3 of the 4 teams have been represented in High School Spotlight this year....which means it may be Brockton's turn next week.
