This edition of College Spotlight brings us back to Boston College, but this time to showcase a player from the defensive side of the ball, true freshman Luke Kuechly. Just 9 games into his first season in Chestnut Hill, Kuechly has already left quite an impression on both Eagles fans an ACC opponents alike. The linebacker from Cincinnati currently has 94 tackles (58 solo), which is more than the next two highest totals on the team combined. His 6.44 solo tackles per game rank 4th nationally. He also has a sack, fumble recovery, interception and touchdown. He has produced 10+ tackles in 6 of the last 7 games (in 9 in the other). He was named a mid-season freshman All American by Rivals.com, and there will no doubt be numerous additional awards coming his way once the season is over. The 18-year old Kuechly only need 7 tackles to break Stephen Boyd's school record for tackles by a true freshman (100 in 1991). Keep up the good work Luke!

The idea of pairing him with Kuechly in BC's linebacking corps gives us just one more reason to root for a Mark "The Beast" Herzlich return in 2010.
Very good chance of earning All-ACC honors as a true freshman...very impressive.
BC gets a ton of credit for their offense, specifically the offensive line, but their defense if often overlooked.
They have had a pretty formidable defense while Spaziani despite not getting a lot of blue chip recruits.
In fact, BC has put a few defensive guys in the pros the past few years.

I'm sure I'm missing a few others. . .
