High School Spotlight: Cam Colwell

In this week's edition of High School Spotlight we feature the anchor of both the offensive and defensive lines of Xaverian, the top ranked team in Eastern Mass: Cam Colwell. The 6'5", 280-pound senior (listed larger in some reports) has the Hawks off to a 6-0 start, and this past weekend he played a huge part in helped Xaverian stay undefeated with a 19-13 win over Everett. With Everett down to it's final play with 3 seconds remaining at the Xaverian 15-yard line, Colwell crushed the quarterback just as he released it, causing an incomplete pass and securing the victory. Colwell is likely a defensive tackle at the next level, though he could play offensive guard as well. He has a scholarship offer from Tulane, but is also considering Boston College, Maryland and Virginia. But before moving on to BCS football, he still has a high school state title to shoot for this year. If Colwell continues to dominate the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, the Hawks clearly have as good of a chance as anyone.

Last week somebody grumbled that the prospects weren't big enough because they were considering CAA schools...so this week we have a BCS recruit who is dominating the best competition Massachusetts has to offer.

Here's hoping BC offers a scholarship and Cam stays local. I like having some local guys on BC.
