College Spotlight: Montel Harris

In this week's edition of College Spotlight we head back to Chestnut Hill to take a look at Boston College sophomore running back Montel Harris. Last season Harris led the Eagles with 900 yards on 179 carries (5.0 average) and 5 touchdowns. This season he's on pace to eclipse those numbers after rushing for 449 yards and 5 TD in just the first 5 games. If the Clemson game is thrown out (in which he rushed 12 times for 13 yards) Harris would be averaging 109 yards and 1.2 touchdowns per game. Last weekend he erupted against Florida State with 179 yards on 25 carries and 2 scores, including the game-winning 42-yard TD run with 4 minutes remaining to give BC the 28-21 win. The Eagles face their toughest test of the season this Saturday when they travel to face #5 Virginia Tech. BC will need Harris in the form that destroyed the Seminoles and not the one that was contained in Death Valley. Last year Harris was held to 95 yards combined in their 2 games against the Hokies, so Saturday will be a chance for some personal revenge. And with a win the Eagles, projected to finish last in the ACC, will likely land in the Top 25. Stay tuned!

Harris is 5'8, 195 pounds out of Jacksonville. Perhaps he plays so well against Florida State because he's mad at them for not recruiting him.

He chose BC over Ball State, Duke, NC State and Vandy.

At the risk of jinxing him, Harris has never lost a fumble in 297 career touches (275 rushes, 22 receptions). He did fumble last week but BC recovered.
