College Spotlight: DeRon Brown

In this week's edition of College Spotlight we head to Division 3 to take a look at MIT running back DeRon Brown. Last season Brown rushed for 1,816 yards and 22 touchdowns (both school records) while becoming the first Engineers All American in 11 years. This season, through 5 games, Brown is 2nd in the nation (D3) in rushing with 826 yards and 6 TD. He has gone over the 200-yard mark the last 2 weekends in a row, with 275 against UMass-Dartmouth, followed by 203 against Curry. While it appears the 5'8" senior from Galax (VA) will not be able to equal last year's incredible individual totals, his numbers should be good enough to make him a back-to-back Division 3 All American, which is especially impressive from a guy on a team struggling so badly (MIT is currently 1-4). Keep up the good work DeRon!

the only players to go pro out of Ivy league or D3, are positions like QB or Center; positions that involve intelligence over athleticism. I would rather sign an Intramural running back from USC than this record breaking social recluse from MIT. But I wouldn't be surprised if he was an undrafted free agent playing on an NFL practice squad somewhere in the future. God knows a DeRon will fit in perfect with the Flozells, JaMarcuses, JerMichaels, LeCharleses, D'Brickashaws, and BenJarvises of the league.

MIT is clearly horrible.....how do you lose 20-10 when your running back goes for 203 yards (as Brown did against Curry).

How does Curry only beat MIT by 10 pts? A few year back I heard that MIT only practices 3 days a week because they are so busy with their school work.

Sean, I'm guessing the answer is DeRon Brown.
