The feature of this week's edition of College Spotlight is the record setting QB from Holy Cross, Dominic Randolph. Prior to this, his senior season, Randolph had already established Patriot League records for career completions and TD passes. In the '09 season opener against Georgetown he went 36-46 for 414 yards and 2 TD, and in the process added 5 more Patriot League records to his already impressive resume. The conference's Offensive Player of the Year in both 2007 & 2008 is clearly well on his way to making it 3 in a row in 2009 already. The 6'3", 225-pound from Amelia (OH) now has career marks of 10,093 passing yards and 85 passing touchdowns. He is on the "watch list" for the 2009 Walter Payton Award and has the Crusaders currently ranked #25 in the FCS national rankings.

Very odd....9 of the Top 25 in the FCS have a loss. Did they lose to D-1 teams? Otherwise this makes no sense to me....and is further proof that preseason rankings mean too much.
Fortunately, unlike in D-1, they'll have a tourney to determine a winner when all is said and done anyway.
...as for Randolph, he is listed as "likely free agent" as an NFL prospect due to a perceived lack of arm strength.
Here is some Patriot league trivia for you: Lehigh University and Lafayette College is the most played and longest uninterrupted rivalry in college football. They have facted each other 144 times since 1884 and met at least once every year since 1897.
BC vs Holy Cross was a long time football rivalry that began in 1896, but ended 82 games later in 1986 when the programs went in different directions.
Gordie Lockbaum probably came closest to winning the Heisman trophy among Patriot League players. He finished fifth in the Heisman voting in 1986 and third in 1987.
