Mid-Week Miscellaneous

As always there is plenty to discuss in this week's edition of Mid-Week Miscellaneous.....Shocking that Rick Pitino has been able to embarrass himself even worse than he did in his brief stint with the Boston Celtics....PGA Championship this weekend. Any chance that Tiger Woods doesn't win?....It appears their new coach may help make up for the loss of Brett Favre in making the Jets easy to root against.....Donte Stallworth is suspended for entire 2009 NFL season.....Will UFC come to Massachusetts?....these and any other topics on your sports mind are open for discussion here in MWM.....

Michael Vick signs with Eagles...let the prosts begin!

Seems like a weird move considering he clearly wont be a starter and if McNabb struggles at all the already miserable Philly fans will be quick to turn on him.

If they run the Wildcat though, could be very interesting.

Wildcat shmildcat...

I do hope WE have some trick plays this year in our arsenal. I feel like each of the 3 years we won it, we had a successful array of unconventional plays. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised at all if there was a win from each of those SB winning seasons that could be directly allotted to a successfully run trick play.

I would venture to guess that if you included Post-season (and Pre-season) there were up to 10 trick plays run by us those seasons. Not a stat at all... merely a venture of a guess, but I think we each can remember a pretty few off the tops of our heads.

Good call Luke. One thing I like about trick plays, even if they don't work, is that they get the defense thinking about them and it makes the opposition defensive coordinators spend time working on stopping those plays during the week.

Perhaps the ooop-de-ooop?

Former Red Sox pitcher Bronson Arroyo continues to make some very candid comments about his use of verious supplements. Apparently MLB would now like to have a chat with him.

Tyson Gay runs a new American record of 9.71 in the 100m championships in Berlin.....and comes in a distant second place to the fastest man on Earth.

Mr. Usain Bolt came in at a staggering 9.58!!!! Wow!

I luckily stumbled across that spring right before it began. AMAZING! Gay was absolutely flying (as WJ noted, fastest American time ever) and still got beat EASILY.

Bolt is truly incredible.
