This is the first edition of a new feature on the site called "Happy Birthday", where each week we will showcase a Boston sports figure, past or present, who is celebrating a milestone birthday that week. This week's feature is Clay Buchholz, who turns 25 tomorrow (August 14). The reason this seems significant is that 25 is beginning to be too old to be a mere "prospect". Although he pitched a no hitter in 2007, Clay currently stands at 6-12 lifetime with a 5.52 ERA. There were 17 players on this year's All Star rosters that were 25 or younger, so the time for major league success is now. While it's understood that the no hitter may have brought about unrealistic expectations, and Buchholz does seem to be still improving (which is encouraging) it would be awful nice if his first month as a 25-year old was spent helping the Sox get back to the post-season. For Clay Buchholz, let's hope that age 25 is the time for some consistent production to combine with all of that potential.

I knew there were a lot of young All Stars this year, but 17 (8 pitchers) is very impressive.
