This is the first edition of the Boston Bruins Weekly Post, where each week a post will be solely devoted to B's talk....Bruins #1 pick Jordan Caron broke his collarbone at the recent Canada Jr. National Team Camp (video above). Cheap hit? He's expected to miss 6-8 weeks.....Will this be Mark Savard's final year in Boston? The high scoring center is due to become a free agent after the season....Speaking of Savard, was their a bigger snub for any national camp as him not being invited to skate with Team Canada?.....Appears that BU/BC will be joining B's/Flyers on Fenway ice this coming winter.....Bruins single game tickets go on sale August 20....these and any other topics regarding our favorite hockey team are open for discussion right here.....

The player who leveled Caron was Colten Teubert, the #13 pick of the 2008 draft by the LA Kings.
The player who set him up with that suicide pass, and laughed during the interview, was Zack Kassian, the #13 pick of the 2009draft by the Sabres.
Just in case you were looking for players to root against down the road.
Wow! Caron got blown up on that play! I actually would have said that it was not a cheap hit and just an ill timed buddy pass, but Teubert clearly brought his hands up when he hit him, meaning that it was a total cross-check.
So Teubert is a punk and so is Kassian for that lousey pass.
I don't think the hit was that cheap in the context of a real game, but I think this was a World Juniors tryout or scrimmage or something. It is shady, but I will give the guy the benefit of the doubt.
The thing that pisses me off is this Richard Head, Kassian or Assian as I will now call him. First of all, not a great pass and possibly set Caron up. But what really annoys me is that he is laughing about his teammate getting hurt on a play that he was at least mildly involved in. What a first class jerk! Another reason to hate Buffalo. He is in Steve Avery territory as far as I am concerned.
I think Savard not getting picked for the Olympics could be a good thing for the Bruins even if it is not a good thing for Savard.
1. No worry of injury risk. Not that there is a lot of hitting in the Olympics, but you never know what can happen with a knee or something elese crazy.
2. I think Savard will be super motivated to prove everybody wrong. I think he is going to work his ass off to show the Olympic committee in Canada that they made a mistake.
In addition to the BC/BU game it looks like there will be an NU/UNH women's game. These events will be on the weekend after the B's game so there is hope that there will be events there all week (public skating, that hopefully doesn't cost $20 a person).
I am hoping for maybe a HS Jamboree or some youth hockey games, but I am not holding my breath.
WJ, you got to take a triple take on that hit. Your initial instinct make you think its a cheap shot because it was so devistating.
But, if you look at it objectively it is a perfectly timed hit on a buddy pass from Ass-hat.
However, what bothers me about it is that Teubert finishes the hit with both hands a chest/shoulder level and this would seem to indicate that there was a cross-check involved.
I don't think it was a true cheap shot, but he definitely brought the stick up to get a little something extra on the hit.
I was glad to hear they were going to some other events at Fenway after the NHL winter classic.
Their billing the BU/BC match as a cheaper alternative to the NHL winter classic, but anyone whos been to a college game knows that's a relative term.
Getting the women's game is the PC thing to do and people will turn out because its a unique event at a unique venue, but it don't think too many people are that excited to see NU/UNH women's hockey.
If they let them fight, now that might be a differnt story. . . . .
I think it would be cool if, during the week between games, they allowed the public to use it.
My feeling is that John Henry & Co. will use it for corporate events and fund raising events.
How to you think John Henry & Co. will exploit the winter classic to make an extra buck?
Sell "Winter Classic" snow cones at Fenway next year from real winter classic ice?
Sell chuncks of the ice?
Open a Tim Hortons?
The Bruins are ranked third in Yahoo's NHL power rankings behind the Pittsburgh Penguins and Chicago Blackhawks.
