The Red Sox (51-33) are riding a modest 2 game win streak into tonight's game with the Royals (36-48), the opener of their final series before the All Star break. Boston sends Brad Penny (6-3, 4.67 ERA) to the mound. Penny has an impressive 3.27 ERA over his past 9 starts. He'll be opposed by Kansas City starter Luke Hochevar (4-3, 5.08 ERA). Last time Hochevar started in Fenway was the game Jon Lester pitched a no hitter last year. One player who wont be in KC's lineup is Coco Crip (.228, 3 HR, 14 RBI, 13 SB) who was traded to the Royals for Ramon Ramirez this past offseason after 3 seasons with the Sox. Coco hasn't played since June 12 and will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing shoulder surgery. Let's go Red Sox!

Ortiz hits #300 career HR to make it 3-0 Sox in the 1st!!!!
Shit loss. Manny Delcarmen has just made himself trade bait. He was terrible. Jedi was no better and Ram Ram was ok - even though he did have 4 Ks.
Bullpen loses this one - bats were fine. Penny not that good but left with a lead
After leading 4-0 and 5-3 the Sox lost 8-6. Lousy bullpen work by MDC, Jedi & Double R.
Final Score
Royals 8, Red Sox 6
Player of the Game
Dustin Pedroia
3-5, 2 R, 2B, HR, RBI
