Red Sox to Retire Jim Rice's #14

RBSF has received word that the Boston Red Sox plan to retire Jim Rice's #14 next Tuesday, July 28, two days after Rice's induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Since the Red Sox have yet to make an announcement there are no further details known at this time, but needless to say it is an extremely well deserved honor for Jim Ed. Rice will join Bobby Doerr (#1), Joe Cronin (#4), Johnny Pesky (#6), Carl Yastrzemski (#8), Ted Williams (#9) and Carlton Fisk (#27) to be so honored by the franchise. Congratulations Jim on this incredible honor! RBSF will pass along more details as they become available.

I haven't seen this anywhere else, so either we are the first to announce it or I got a bum tip.

Turns out you were right:

Nice work DK!

Who is Joe Haggerty?

Wonder if Joe Morgan will be there. Monday marked the 21st anniversary of when Joe Morgan sent Spike Owen to pinch hit for Jim Rice in a game.

Rice then tried to fight Walpole Joe in the dugout runway and was suspended for three games.

Glad it was the truth. After the April Fools prank my credibility is already suffering.
