Sox Report: Game 55 vs Rangers

The Red Sox (32-22) host the Rangers (31-22) tonight in the opener of a 3 game weekend series at Fenway. It's the Sox first game in Boston since returning from a 10 game road trip (and a sweep of the AL Central leading Tigers). Hopefully recent trade rumors wont prove a distraction for Sox starter Brad Penny (5-1, 5.63 ERA) tonight. Veteran Kevin Millwood (4-4, 3.23 ERA) gets the nod for Texas. The Rangers are currently the AL West leaders, and one unlikely reason why is Nelson Cruz (.289, 16 HR, 41 RBI). The 5th year outfielder has already easily set career highs in both HR and RBI, just 53 games into the season. Hopefully Penny and the Boston bullpen will be able to shut down Cruz and the Rangers tonight. Let's go Red Sox!

Penny needs to keep pitching good, if not great...we need some good trades this season.

Ortiz whiffs. Looking. Ouch.

Ellsbury is doing so well in the back of the lineup...but he doesn't belong there. End of experiment.

Amazing fielding play by the Dustroia!

Lowell might be the slowest guy on our team...

Papi pops out to 3rd base. I feel sad.

I hate when our pitchers (or any pitchers) complain about pitches when they don't have a legit beef.

5-0 Texas heading to the bottom of the 6th.

Kinsler's 3-run HR is the big hit at the moment.

Seriously what the fuck . I go to 3 games in a row in Detwa and we sweep and they come home and suck ass so far to the Texas Strangers

We have issues - I will summarize below.

Both of these last two game are not exactly installing confidence. I mean yes - it is a game, yes - shit happens, but last night we are up something like 10-0 with a no hitter into the seventh inning and then have to "Hold On" for a 10-5 Win. Courtesy of 3 straight errors. Then again today - the only time we can score is when Willis has a major and I mean MAJOR MELTDOWN, despite the fact we had the bases loaded and no one,out in the ninth. Followed by another "Outing" by Paps. Yet we have a share of the best record in the AL. Still we are kidding ourselves as fans if we at all feel comfortable.

The reality of any baseball season for me no matter how good things are going is simple - Talk to me in August. If you are still in it in August then - ok - but even then anything can happen especially with regard to Injury - or if you happen to have a guy like Manny Ramirez - a superstar to just decides to quit. So to have these concerns in June - is well,,,,,,,,,,,,, a concern. But it is a long season - we know what we need to do better however other than the need for a shortstop than can hit and field along with the Papi situation - their isn't a clear cut other consistent problem.

Oh and I don't give a shit what you say - if they don't put Beckett out in the 8th on Wed Night we loose - you guys are wrong and hey that is just the way it is.

I have checked with my people and that is the story.
