Mid-Week Miscellaneous

As always there is plenty to discuss in this week's edition of Mid-Week Miscellaneous.....How will the Vince Wilfork situation affect the Pats? Will they re-sign him? Will he hold out?.....Would the Celtics have won their 18th title if KG had been healthy?.....The MLB All Star Game is just weeks away; which Sox deserve to go?.....Stanley Cup Finals is down to one game for it all the marbles between the Penguins and Red Wings tomorrow night.....Lakers up 2-1 in the NBA Finals with Game 4 tonight in Orlando. Can the Magic win this?.....Did anyone else think former Patriots offensive lineman Grey Ruegamer's first name was Greg? (and happy 33rd birthday today).....Sox select Michael Yastrzemski in the 36th round of the MLB Draft.....these and any other topics on your sports mind are open for discussion here in MWM.....

I'm hoping the Pats lock up Wilfork, but I'm also hoping he's not looking for Albert Haynesworth money. If he is he will not be back. I still say Richard Seymour is our most valuable defensive player...possibly in a tie with Mayo now simply because of Mayo's youth. Wilfork is right in that next group.

Speaking of which, Seymour and Mankins still need to be locked up too.

I'm taking the Red Wings tomorrow just because I've taken them all season...but I wouldn't put any money on either.

As for the NBA, I'm taking the Lakers. They almost won Game 3 and they seemed to deserve to lose badly. That doesn't bode well for Orlando in my book. I wouldn't be surprised to see that series go 4-1.

...and yes, I do think with a fully healthy lineup (KG and Leon) the C's win...but I suppose that's irrelevant since it didn't happen.

Rumor of Pedro to the Rays!

Observations from the NBA Finals:

Phil Jackson can't walk. Very hard for him to get up and argue with refs/do anything

Dwight Howard needs a Perk scowl

Lamar Odom is both skilled and kind of a pathetic guy on the court

My fiance keeps thinking they say "Beatrice" whenever they say Pietrus.

Pietrus and Ariza are poor men Poseys

Bynum is so slow and cannot leap

Hedo continues to baffle me as he is totally effective on the court and looks like he plays with half the speed of everyone else

I find myself rooting for Rafer Alston for some reason. He just fucking loves the game of basketball

Pau Gasol is an all star. Period. End of Story. He is really good and fun to watch.

The Magic should do everything they can to get Big Baby next year

Sasha Vujacic is terrible. They keep saying his "shooting woes continue" - but is he a knock down shooter? I have yet to ever see that.

Rashard Lewis is invisible right now. Game is tied at 75. I sense a big shot. There is no reason why Lewis should not match Ray Allen's career stats at the end of his run

DK - it would be great to eventually see a story around "guys who made a bad decision to leave Boston" with James Posey and Johnny Damon clearly topping the list off the top of my head

why hasn't the NBA PED speculation happened yet?

Derek Fisher playing in his 30th Finals game. 3rd in 3 pointers made all time.

Dwight Howard totally choked at the line tonight! Nick Anderson part deux

In your "Guys that made a bad decision to leave Boston" a few Red Sox come to mind immediately:

Bruce Hurst & Mo Vaughn

Glad the Pens came through.

..though I am sure Pittsburgh may be getting the false sense that they are us,

the true
City Of Champions

DK, Bruce Hurst should top that list ahead of the other 2.

People keep saying how underrated Adrian Gonzalez is for the Padres - aka he doesn't get the credit he deserves.

HELLO!!!! HE WAS THE #1 PICK THE THE MLB DRAFT IN 2000 (by Florida)

He is living up to his expectations. Period.

JBS- I agree that Howard needs a scowl. He looked pretty silly before game 4 when he was shaking hands with a huge grin on his face and Bryant was all business.

Did you know Rafer Alston and Chris Herren were roommates in college?

At UNLV, WJ?

Right coach (Tark) wrong college (Fresno State).

not to get over confident
but
it is amazing how easy the Sox schedule looks FOR THE NEXT 25 GAMES

Florida
Atlanta
Washington
Atlanta
Baltimore
Seattle
Oakland
Kansas City

then July 17 at Toronto

"Looks" being the operative word..

there should be an option in the "Next Title" poll - profound nervousness of jinxfactor

Absolutely nuts scenario
if I am getting this correctly

Donte Stallworth gets 30 DAYS in Jail.

and a "confidential financial settlement"

for killing a Mario Reyes under the influence.

A ticker at the bottom of ESPN says something like "He is expected to be disciplined at the beginning of the season." THE BEGINNING?

He would be playing Week 1 in the case of no suspension. Nuts. Plaxico we will see.

His lawyers just moved up to #2 in my book.
Slipping in right behind R. Kelly's team.

I really hope the Sox make a commitment to keeping Smoltz in the Bullpen. I don't want us to overplay our hand like what happened with Joba.

I think he can be very effective for us this season.
