The Red Sox (16-10) won their first game in the new Yankee Stadium last night, and look to continue their dominance over the Yankees (13-12) tonight. Boston has won all 4 meetings between the teams this year, and last night it was Jason Bay and Mike Lowell (combined 5-9, 2 HR, 4 RBI) leading the charge. Josh Beckett (2-2, 7.22 ERA) gets the start for the Sox and hopes to rebound from a terrible outing in Tampa last time out. He'll be opposed by Joba Chamberlain (1-0, 3.13 ERA) who has to deal with the recent arrest of his mother on top of the Sox formidable lineup. Let's go Red Sox!

Get to Joba early!
The 1st 4 batters for Boston went:
Single (Ellsbury)
Single (Pedroia)
RBI Single (Ortiz)
3-run HR (Bay)
4-0 Red Sox....exactly what I asked for!
Nice to get Beckett some runs. Let's hope he returns to the Beckett we expect tonight.
Youk out of the lineup tonight...hopefully this is minor.
4-3 on a Johnny Damon HR.
In honor of Bob Lobel, "where can we get players like that".
Joba way over celebrated an inning ending strikeout in the 5th inning. Ridiculous
Joba definitely hit Bay intentionally by the way. He has 10 Ks.
Good inning by Beckett on to the 6th
Why did Ellsbury leave the game?
what the hell is Girardi doing? Joba is on fire and he takes him out!!!
I don't get it
Still 4-3 in the bottom of the 6th. Beckett looks MUCH better tonight than he has in a month.
they should call this game. Absolutely pouring.
Beckett got out of a jam nicely with Bailey making a nice tag after being pulled off the line.
The Yankees stink.
Do you know why Jake left yet?
Beckett pissed about getting yanked, but I do like him coming out without the chance to lose this one. Might be a little something to get his confidence back to where it needs to be.
MDC's beard is ridiculous.
Great work Oki! 4-3 after 7
hamstring for Jake. I think precautionary due to weather (he strained it slightly last night I think)
Nick Green - who knew?
I have the MLB package and have to deal with Michael Kay tonight on the YES network. Boy - is he annoying. Al Leiter on the other hand is remarkably balanced.
This looks like a PawSox lineip -
Van Every
Nick Green
Jeff Bailey
Are we going to see future star Pat Dobson as a late inning defensive replacement?
Oki has pitched great! Way to hold down the fort....
Sox bullpen gives them a HUGE edge over NY. Relief is so key, especially with starters only going 5-6 on average, even in good starts sometimes.
Maybe the Sox are paying tribute to "Future Star" Izzy Alcantara who turns 38 today.
Sox hold on to win 7-3!
5 in a row vs the Yanks!
3 Stars...
1.Bay (1-3, 2 R, HR, 3 RBI)
2.Pedroia (3-4, 2 R)
3.Okajima (2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 2 K)
Blogger Dave told me that tickets were available for these games (and all games at Yankee stadium) BELOW FACE VALUE!!
Hard to celebrate this though when the middle class fan is also losing a ton of money
It is good for baseball for stadiums to sell out. As much as I hate to admit it, I want Yankee stadium back to where it should be....loud and intimidating
Nah...
You are wrong about this one JBS. Yankees Stadium having empty seats is not only good as Red Sox fans, but really good as Baseball fans. It is good for the sport.
