Reasons for Optimism After Celts Loss

Last night the Celtics lost 95-90 to the Magic, falling behind 1-0 in their best-of-seven series and forfeiting their home court advantage to Orlando. But in our ongoing quest to remain positive, we must point out that there was plenty to feel good about good about in Game 1, despite the loss. For starters, Boston's bench was solid for the second straight game: Scal had 10 points, 4 rebounds and played solid defense, Marbury (8 points, 3 assists) played his best 9 minutes as a Boston Celtic, and E.House hit two big 3's. They showed heart, trailing by as many as 28 but managing to fight their way back within 4. And yes, Dwight Howard had 22 rebounds and 3 blocks, but Kendrick Perkins had 16 rebounds and 3 blocks of his own. The C's starting backcourt (Rondo & Ray) combined to shoot just 2-for-24 from the field, yet Boston only lost by 5 points. And let's not forget that the C's lost Game 1 to Chicago as well...and that series turned out okay. So while the series opener was far from perfect, and there was plenty to critique, we choose to see the glass as half full for now and look forward to some sweet revenge in Game 2 tomorrow night.

Also a positive: Pietrus had 17 points for Orlando including a few ridiculous shots. If he stays that hot the C's will get swept...but I'm willing to take my chances that isn't going to be the case.

Guys I want to see get more run:

Pierce
Walker
Davis
Marbury

Guys I want to see less of:
Tony Allen
... come to think of it that's about it

also not entirely against seeing some more Pruitt - we gotta find people to get hot with our shortened bench, and we won't know who's hot unless we keep checking up on guys.

I acknowledge, as I would be blind not to, that Pierce is playing FAR from where we need him. That is a reason though to keep him out there. He's not gonna heat up on the pine... and the longer this "slump" lasts, the worse.

Ray is kicking so much ass this year, can you imagine if both of their game's were on!?

Throw in Rondo and there is no reason we shouldn't be able to contend for the Title.
