Ladder Challenge: Havlicek vs Marciano

In last week's Ladder Challenge it was Doug Flutie defeating Milt Schmidt with 60% of the vote to move up to the #15 spot on the Ladder. This week the Brockton Blockbuster, Rocky Marciano (#14), attempts to get back into the Top 10 by taking on Celtics legend John Havlicek (#9). As impressive as Rocky's undefeated record is, Hondo's 16 seasons, 13 All Star appearances, 8 World Championships and 25,000+ points are simply too much to ignore. As a result Havlicek gets my vote this week. So who has your support in this week's Ladder Challenge? (and remember, most votes in the comments section is the tie-breaker, so be sure to voice your opinion!)

All-time Celtics leading scorer, 8 rings, 13 All Star appearances...too tough to ignore. The undefeated heavyweight from Brockton looks to be heading to 0-3 in Challenges this week.

(for the record I do think Havlicek is underrated, in life, and on the ladder)

my logic is, just as you said
0-3... ???

for a guy who in real life NEVER lost. Tough.

There are also no boxers in the Top Ten.

DK, you often fault guys for retiring too late and/or coming out of retirement...two things Rocky never did. I also give Marciano extra credit for actually being from Mass.

I think Havlicek should be 6th.
Red could make a good case too. (at least that high)

Rocky should definitely be in the Top Ten. He is Top Ten in his sport. From a region?
It is a one man sport. He had no one else to rely on.

Guys who did not win all their fights :

Sugar Ray Leonard
Muhammad Ali
Joe Louis

This is in no way a knock on Havlicek. I am not convinced he would definitely lose a one-on-one game to Larry Bird (currently #3 on the Ladder) as he stopped playing a full year before the first 3 point basket was converted in the NBA. 26,000+ Points without a 3! This was before Moses Malone collected a Million Dollars as a Salary. All Havlicek has is the respect we give him! And believe me, I give him a ton! Both guys need to move up.

This one/time I decided to go with Rocky.

*I will add that the splash John made, with his off the bat Championships, was Brady-esque(but better?), and it should not be an excuse that we are not old enough to appreciate this.
