Ladder Challenge: Agganis vs Schilling

In last week's Ladder Challenge it was Troy Brown earning 60% of the vote to defeat Tiny Thompson, improve to 3-0 in challenges, and move up to #81 on the RBSF Ladder. This week the recently retired Curt Schilling (#72) attempts to advance up the ladder by taking on local legend and multi-sport star Harry Agganis (#67). Despite Schilling's contributions toward two World Series titles in Boston, "The Golden Greek" is too good (and too tragic) for me to vote against, and thus Agganis earns my support this week. So who has your vote in the latest Ladder Challenge?

If Schiling played his entire career in Boston this would have been a no-brainer in his favor, but 4 years in Boston do not outweigh a local boy that shunned national colleges to stay close to home and shunned a 1st round NFL deal to sign with the Sox.

I just realized that Agganis never switched places with Tom Yawkey when he defeated him...so technically Agganis should be ranked #61 and this challenge should never have taken place. I may have to be a little creative (i.e. pretend this is actually Schilling/Yawkey) to set things the way they were meant to be.

Schilling wins 51-49!

This Challenge actually never should have taken place. Agganis had beaten Tom Yawkey and they were not changed on the Ladder.

As a result I have changed Schilling & Yawkey (make sense?) and left Agganis where he was....in the middle of them both. This makes sense (to me) since he beat Yawkey and lost to Schilling.
