With the season opener only 4 days away, the Red Sox roster still seems far from etched in stone. No, I'm not talking about Theo making a blockbuster trade for the likes of Hanley Ramirez (happy belated April Fools' Day by the way) but there is a clear possibility for something to happen. First off, the Sox bullpen is stocked with 7 major league arms at the moment...could the Sox strike a deal from an area of strength? On Monday Peter Gammons reported that there are many teams interested in Manny Delcarmen, the only Boston native on the Red Sox roster. So what would MDC bring back to Boston in a trade? Gammons reported Boston "needs a catcher and could use another infielder and even another outfielder". These roster spots are currently occupied by George Kottaras, Nick Green and Chris Carter, but all have been told they have made the team "barring a trade or waiver pickup". So does Theo have anything up his sleeve? Should he?

Frank Catalonotto was waived by the Rangers...he could be a possibility for the Sox. Unfortunately he was unable to beat out Andruw Jones, so I'm not sure he'd be all that useful.
Frank Catalonotto = Sox killer. Let's pick him up for sure if we can. Although I really like Chris Carter
Personally, despite our deep bullpen, I'm hoping we hold onto MDC. I like having a Boston guy on the team....in fact I'd like to see us have one on each of our teams.
JBS - you're right, Frank Catalonotto is an absolute Sox killer. Unfortunately he can't hit against anybody else, so I want no part of him. I also like Carter as well as Jeff Bailey.
We have good trade bait, Varitek is going to kill us again this year...as is Lowrie...they be good for one clutch hit in the late innings every two weeks maybe...I'd put Saito up for sell, or even Oki...I think Buchy is bait too...Masterson will be better.
i dont want to see us give away mdc but i would be interested to know what is being offered for him. with saito and jedi they have 2 strong right set up men already. if he can bring back something that can help i say go for it
ruben i agree about catalanotto. didnt they make that mistake with matt young?
Carter with another HR yesterday. If he keeps hitting like this I don't see any reason not to keep him around. He's been great (and yes, I do realize it's only spring, but you do have to give a guy a chance).
