It seems the Bruins have been waiting for a 2nd round playoff opponent forever. Since the B's completed their 4 game sweep of the Canadiens plenty of things have happened in the Boston sports world, but a Bruins game has not been one of the them. Zdeno Chara and Tim Thomas were both announced as NHL Awards finalists, the Red Sox swept the Yankees, the Celtics fought their way to a 3-2 series lead over the Bulls, Ellis Hobbs was traded to Philly and the Pats added some new talent in the NFL Draft. Now, finally, the Carolina Hurricanes have put away the New Jersey Devils and will be the B's next opponent. These teams met 4 times during the regular season with Boston easily winning all of them: 4-2, 4-2, 5-1 and 5-1. Hopefully their dominance over the once-Whalers will carry over into the playoffs. Game 1 is scheduled for Friday at 7:30 pm at the Garden...and though the Bruins might be appreciating the rest, it can't get here soon enough for us!

Carolina is not much different than when we played Buffalo and Tomas Vanek....except "Vanek" is now Eric Staal. He had 5 goals against the Devils (7 points) and is clearly the key to their success. If the B's can slow down Staal (I avoided the obvious pun) they should be able to continue their domination over the Canes.
Posted this on the other post but really should be here.
Please Que Brass Bonanza.
GO WHALERS!!!!!!
The Hartford Failures could never beat the B's and the Whalers South will not be able to either.
They would have a better shot if they brought back Ron Francis and Mike Liut out of retirement.
BTW, there are 6 guys in the NHL this year that played for the Whale...that is pretty amazing. None of them are playing for Carolina. Do you know any AL?
Looking forward to your nickname for this series. Your French name was pretty hilarious.
