There is plenty of blame to go around for the Bruins recent struggles. The goalies and defensemen have been taking a lot of the heat and deservedly so. However not enough blame has gone to the B's collection of forwards, a group that has struggled mightily (with a handful of exceptions) since the All Star break. Of the 11 Bruins forwards that have been regulars all season, only Patrice Bergeron (+0.04) has averaged more points per game since the break. The biggest drop in production has come from Phil Kessel (-0.63) and David Krejci (-0.68). Although the addition of Mark Recchi is certainly a help, it will be up to the Bruins that have been here all along to pick their games back up if Boston is going to make a run for the Cup. We've seen what Marc Savard and company are capable of, but it's time we got a little reminder of it.

The B's point per game differential before and after the All Star break:
1. Bergeron (.58/.62/+.04)
2. Thornton (.15/.14/-.01)
3. Yelle (.28/.26/-.02)
4. Ryder (.72/.67/-.05)
5. Kobasew (.66/.53/-.13)
6. Lucic (.65/.50/-.15)
7. Axelsson (.45/.24/-.22)
8. Wheeler (.64/.40/-.24)
9. Savard (1.19/.82/-.38)
10.Kessel (.98/.35/-.63)
11.Krejci (1.11/.43/-.68)
Surprising that the top 3 scorers post-break are: Savard, Ryder, Kobasew.
PJ Axelsson is 10th despite extensive play on the power play...maybe it's time we took him off of it???
5 goals tonight (4 by forwards) certainly helps the B's get on the right track!
That was Kessel's first multi-goal game since December 18. Hopefully the sign of even better things to come!
It is important for the Bs to hit a cold streak...do some soul searching....see if the veterans take control of the locker room....and see what these young kids can really do under different pressure.
this may have been a reverse jinx bc kessel is starting to come alive finally. now we need krejci to heat up before the playoffs
