In the last edition of the Nickname Game Red Sox shortstop Jed Lowrie followed in the footsteps of Jennifer Lopez (almost) to earn his RBSF nickname: J-Low. This week we try to find a nickname for the newest Celtic, Stephon Marbury. Although Marbury has a nickname (and a good one at that) in "Starbury", it seems since he has a new team, new city and new attitude (hopefully), he should get a new nickname too. Plus Marbury isn't the star he once was, so the old nickname doesn't work as well as it once did. So post suggestions for a new nickname for the C's new #8 and at the end of the week the best options will be posted and voted on.

Nicknames handed out in the Nickname Game so far...
Milan Lucic: The Luc Ness Monster
Jerod Mayo: Area 51
Stephen Gostkowski: Gotti
Tim Thomas: T.T. the Bear
Leon Powe: "None of the above"
Logan Mankins: Hogtie
Jon Lester: JTL
David Krejci: Dynamite
Kendrick Perkins: "All of the above"
Jed Lowrie: J-Low
Let the suggestions for Marbury begin...
Rolebury
Bus Stop
The Artist Formerly Known As Starbury
For clarification: Is Lowrie's nickname pronounced J-Low as in rhymes with "halo" or rhymes with "snow plow" ???
Mabury:
8-ball
8-ball because:
1) wears #8
2) Kind of a black sheep
3) It can unintentionally ruin your game (aka cost you the game)
also because 8-ball jackets were still in style the last time marbury was good
knickle
cream
cash rules everything around marbury
I think first initial + first syllable of last name should be outlawed as a nickname for anybody ever again.
Seriously? Is that the best you can come up with?
Is this a competition to se who can come up with the least original nickname?
It is bad enough that it is taken from an actress/pop star, but it was then claimed by a Yankee and about 10,000 athletes since. Come on, you can do better than that.
I must say WJ, if you wanted a better outcome you should have suggested something yourself (which you didn't). The voters spoke, sorry...
If he played a real sport I would have come up with a suggestion.
Reservebury
Benchbury
8th-manbury
Poisonbury
and of course
S-Mar (I predict this will win).
I actually love the nickname Starbury and since the man did tattoo his own head with the Starbury logo I think he has earned the right to keep that name no matter where he plays or how bad he is.
Hmmmm, S-Mar....LOVE IT!
the green hornet - now wears the green and has the potential to sting
how about the green bee. it is sort of like green hornet but there is a team called the hornets and hes not on it. plus he went to ga tech so he is a bee (yellow jacket)
oh how about green jacket
missing link
He doesn't deserve a nickname. Do something for the team first. Giving Marbury a nickname is akin to naming your dunks but shooting 57& from the free=rhrow line. First things first.
That is why "None of the above'" is always an option...but good/valid point HP.
Next week's feature in the Nickname Game will be Jacoby Ellsbury...
Winner = 8-Ball
