The Bruins (45-16-9, 99 points) try to become the first team to hit 100 points when they hit the road today to play the Penguins (36-26-8, 80 points). The Bruins are coming off of back-to-back wins over the Senators and Islanders, but the Penguins pose a far greater test than either of those squads. Pittsburgh is perhaps the hottest teams in hockey right now, 12-3-3 in their past 18 games. They are led by 2 of the top 3 scorers in the NHL: Evgeni Malkin (30-67-97) and Sidney Crosby (27-60-87). Will the B's be able to slow down Sid the Kid and friends and earn their third straight win? We'll find out this afternoon. Let's go Bruins!

It looked like the Pens may not make the playoffs at all, then they might be the best #8 seed in history. Currently they are up to #6....just 4 points behind #4 but just 6 points out of the playoffs altogether.
Malkin had some incredible highlights the last few games - we need to smack him around.
if they still had that huge lead over the devils id consider tanking this on purpose. i want no part of pittsburgh in the 1st round
I was at the St. Patty's parade so I missed it, but B's lost 6-4.
Chris Kunitz with a hat trick for the Pens.
Malkin & Crosby both held without a goal (Crosby did get 3 assists) and they score 6 goals? Wow!
Chara & Wideman both -3.
Thomas allows 5 goals on 33 shots. Not acceptable.
Gord Kluzak mentioned he thought it was weird Thomas played considering how recent the last game was...but perhaps this shows just how little faith Claude has in Manny at the moment.
B's 3 Stars:
1- Wheeler (goal, assist, +2)
2- Kessel (goal, 7 shots)
3- Ryder (goal)
Wheeler was in the box when Pittsburgh scored a PP goal to make it 3-3...B's were actually up 3-2 after 2 in this one. Just a total collapse in the 3rd.
Here's hoping the B's don't end up playing the Pens in the first round...pens will end up 5 or 6 seed likely--as long as we're top 2 we should be ok....much prefer carolina/rangers/mtl/fla...b's have some real issues these days--not inspiring much confidence that they'll do much past the first round---hope i'm wrong, but even when they've been winning recently--there have been some serious holes--just no consistency--frustrating.
I don't think there are too many easy games for the B's in the first round. All of the teams that could end up at 8 have the potential to beat the B's due to match ups or they have a goalie that can get hot and steal a series.
Buffalo and Florida scare me in the first round if they can sneak in, not so much Carolina.
Thomas looked like an ass when he slammed his stick on the ice after the second goal I think. I love how competitive he is, but he looked like a little kid throwing a temper tantrum.
