BC Gets #7 Seed in Midwest Region

Boston College (22-11) was named the #7 in the Midwest Region when the brackets for March Madness were released yesterday. They will take on Pac-10 tournament champ and #10 seed USC (21-12) in the 1st Round Friday at 7:20 pm in Minneapolis. This is quite an accomplishment for an Eagles squad that was pre-season #11 (of 12) in the ACC. Upsets over UNC (then #1) and Duke (then #5) have earned the Eagles some national respect. The winner will move on to play either #2 Michigan State or #15 Robert Morris. Al Skinner's team is led by senior guard Tyrese Rice (17.1 ppg), but the supporting cast has gotten much stronger, helping turn the Eagles into true contenders. Key contributors include Joe Trapani (13.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg), Rakim Sanders (13.0 ppg) and Corey Raji (9.8 ppg, 6.1 rpg), who could also become household names in the upcoming weeks if BC can make a run in the tourney. Good luck Eagles!

Michigan State would be a very tough Round 2 game, but they obviously have to take care of USC first. After taking down UNC and Duke (and almost Duke again in the ACC tourney) they at least wont be intimidated by anyone.

i wish bc were still in the big east. i think i would be more into rooting for them if they had more kids that were actually from boston. there is only one guy from mass on the team and he has played a total of 4 minutes all year

The Midwest - Louiville may need to play Ohio State in the second round in Dayton, Ohio. I know L'Ville is close - but that is ridiculous and a big advantage for Ohio State if they can win the first round.

BC-USC is on at 7:20 pm EST on Friday - I'll be in Vegas watching all weekend.

BC has

One Senior: Tyrese Rice
*Slightest of chances he is picked in the NBA 2nd round (and only if they advance 2 games in my opinion.

One Junior:Tyler Roche
*gets 16 mins a game - 3.6 PPG

Three Freshman: BEST: Reggie Jackson
*20 mins/game 7.1 ppg - will be starting PG next year maybe

Seven Sophomores: BEST: Corey Raji & Rakim Sanders
*Raji gets 9.8 ppg and 6.1 rpg
*Sanders gets 13 ppg and 4.5 rpg

They have a bright future we hope - you never know with BC

#10 seeds won the first two 10/7 games...hopefully BC can put an end to that trend tomorrow.

Too bad about this one. At least they have a pretty decent core to grow over the next couple of years.
Gonna miss Rice though...

One of the most exciting BC players in recent memory, maybe longer.
