A-Rod Tested Positive for Steroids in '03

video
It has been revealed by Sports Illustrated that Alex Rodriguez was 1 of 104 MLB players who tested positive for steroids in 2003, the year before penalties were imposed for a positive test. Despite his denial on 60 Minutes (seen above) claiming he never used performance enhancing drugs because he never felt he needed to, that denial was apparently nothing more than a lie from Alex Rodriguez. Once the man many thought would eclipse Barry Bonds' home run record and "make the record clean", it appears Rodriguez has joined Bonds, in a sense, whether or not he ever passes him. This news means that perhaps the 3 greatest players of the past 20 years, Bonds, Clemens and Rodriguez, have now all been tied to steroid use...and although losing is nothing new to A-Rod, it's a shame that baseball has to lose again as well.

Does anyone else notice that when he denies ever using steroids he actually nods? Is that a Freudian slip of some sort?

Was there ever a threesome that it was easier not to feel any sympathy for than Bonds, Clemens and Rodriguez?

ICYMI: A-Rod today confessed to using performance enhancers (he didn't know which ones?) while playing for the Rangers from 2001-03.

Really? That's it? Does ANYBODY believe that? Sadly for him the answer is likely no, even if it's true.

He is a scumbag in so many ways. I hate that he tried having that Mr. Perfect image.
I think he admitted because he believes it will help him get in the HOF and get forgiveness from the fans, help his reputation in the future. He has seen the charade that Bonds is playing out and seeing what a joke this guy's career has become because he won't admit he was on the juice. Somebody smart has told him that the American public is very forgiving and to "come clean". I am guessing that he used for more than 3 years, but at least he didn't say he only used once to recover from a sore arm or something else lame.

I still don't understand why more guys who didn't juice up don't stand up and say that the guys who used should be punished or made public. It just makes me think that it was A LOT more people doing it.

Can you name one guy you are sure didn't take 'roids?

Sucks for baseball.
They were real enablers too.

I do think it is BS the way the info came out, even though I am glad that it is in the open that he is known to be a [greater] cheater and his act is wiped clean.
(I don't believe it was just those years either)

I totally noticed the nod the first time I saw that.

The Nod isn't as big of a tip as the eye movement - and the parsing of the lip.

Was it my tv or did ARod look hot pink during that interview?

JBS said...

"he already lied once, how can we believe him?"

-George Brett, on whether we can trust ARod anymore

JBS said...

"I'm not a good rider. I am a good receiver"

-ARod, during interview. Did he really just say that? HILARIOUS

Judging by the poll you have up, and people's general reactions,
this thing runs the risk of making everyone so desensitized to the whole era, that now these guys could run a real chance of getting in. [the Hall]

That would be truly tragic.

"It's simple math, really -- $3.9 million is greater than a tarnished legacy.

Everything is still on for Friday's ceremony at the University of Miami to name the new baseball field Alex Rodriguez Field. Lying Liar Field was apparently too cumbersome.

Although A-Roid didn't actually go to UM, he has been close to the program and the entire Miami community and donated $3.9 mil back in 2002. A rep for the school tells us "We are moving forward with the event. The donation was announced at a press conference on Oct. 10, 2002."

"The few times we played them, when he got hits, it could have cost me a game," Oswalt said. "It could have cost me money in my contract. He cheated me out of the game and I take it personally, because I've never done [PEDs], haven't done it, and they're cheating me out of the game."

-Roy Oswalt

But...he was mum on Clemens.

the clean players are as much to blame for this as the dirty ones. they are acting outraged now but almost none of them said a word when they knew this was going on and almost none of them in the mlbpa stepped up to demand testing to make sure the league was clean. i would be very vocal if i was clean and knew others were cheating and the only ones i heard that were were rick heiling and chad curtis. oswalt outrage is the equivalent of arod and petttitte admitting they used after they were caught in my book
