RBSF Contest: Lifelong Boston Athletes

Time for the latest RBSF Contest, brought to you by the site's newest sponsor No R Lifestyle. There have been 49 athletes that have played 10+ seasons in Boston without ever playing another MLB/NBA/NFL/NHL game for another franchise. There are 4 active athletes who fit into this exclusive club: PJ Axelsson (Bruins), Tedy Bruschi (Patriots), Paul Pierce (Celtics) and Jason Varitek (Red Sox). The question....who was the last person from each of these 4 franchises to play 10+ seasons with their Boston-based team and retire having never played for anyone else? Winner to receive a free t-shirt from No R Lifestyle! (As always, to be eligible you must be, or become, an "Official Real Boston Sports Fan"). Email your answers to: dk@realbostonsportsfans.com. The contest runs through Sunday, February 22.

The list of 49 includes:

18 Patriots, 12 Bruins, 12 Red Sox and 7 Celtics (including the 4 current players).

Playing in the minor leagues for another franchise or in a league other than the 4 major pro North American leagues mentioned does not disqualify a player.

The 20+ Club has only 2 members: Carl Yastrzemski (Red Sox, 23) and Dit Clapper (Bruins, 20).

Bill Carrigan of the Red Sox (1906-16) was the first member of the group....and the only member for 31 years until Clapper retired in 1947.
