Are the Celtics simply getting bored with regular season action after a franchise-record 19-game winning streak and 27-2 start? Or were we just fooled into thinking the C's were better than they are? They've now lost 2 in a row, 3 of their last 4, and 5 of their last 7. For a team with aspirations of repeating as NBA Champions this is downright frightenting. To make matters worse, 3 of the losses came against the Warriors (10 wins), Knicks (13) and Bobcats (13). And even though the Blazers, who also beat Boston, are a solid 20-14 they were playing without Brandon Roy, their best player. The big questions now are: 1)What's wrong? and 2)How do we fix it? (if we can)

The #1 problem from what I have seen is their failure to put teams away. 10 point leads aren't becoming 20, 25 and 30. These mediocre to lousy teams are using the Celts as their proving ground and the C's just don't seem ready to match that intensity on a nightly basis.
Also, TA and Leon were both amazing to start the season and have been much less recently.
KG has been mediocre all year. It's true.
They are not playing well.
1) We are having breakdowns on defense that are leading to wide open layups/dunks. Slashers are creating havoc and we are for some reason going for ball fakes a lot
2) We have some really silly turnovers (mostly bad passes) that lead to fast breaks.
3) Teams are double and triple teaming KG on the perimeter. Not letting him shoot open jumpers (smart).
4) Teams are getting in Rondo's head a bit - something is fucking up his confidence on the road - started with lakers.
5) Pierce is playing great - but we need him to be greater - get to the line for 16 attempts please. He also should be ringing the team's collective neck
6) We travel a lot (KG and Tony Allen).
7) O'Bryant is a waste of a roster spot
8) KG looks hurt or exausted.
9) If Big Baby and Leon play like they did yesterday vs. Bobcats every night - we will be back to where we need to be. KG was just off.
10) Doc Rivers needs to get tossed
GET BILL WALKER ON THIS TEAM
the things i have noticed are
1-teams are letting pierce be a pure scorer. good move. that is what he was when we sucked. he is way better when he is an all-around threat
2-kg needs to fill up the stat sheet with rebounds, assists and blocks if they are going to take away his scoring
3-rondo and perkins are both way down from where they were a month ago
4-tony allen started this year awesome. i know hes hurt now but before that he had cooled off a ton
5-ditto for #4 in regards to leon
6-1st quarter needs to be a priority. they arent coming out ready to dominate
teams at home (all recent loses on road) come pumped up to beat the defending champs and first place team. It is too hard for the Celts to maintain the pace they were going at for every game of the year. If this were the end of the season I'd be worried. Not worried right now.
I think we all remember our road success for the first 90% of the Playoffs last year. Losses don't bother me at this point in the season, but if it comes down to us and the Lakers again I will be much more comfortable if we have home court advantage. The refs jock the Lakers and the NBA is practically begging for them to get a Championship.
At the start of today we would be a #3 seed if the playoffs began right now. That means not only would we not have home court advantage over the Lakers...we wouldn't have home court advantage in the 2nd Round.
I agree Luke, home court would make me much more comfortable...we need to start winning some games to earn it!
Fortunately, however, the playoffs don't begin today. Still plenty of time to turn this around.
