Weekend Grudge: New Year's Day Bowls

This Weekend's Grudge is aimed toward the New Year's Day college football bowl games. When did New Year's Day become so lame? Somehow there are 34 bowl games this year (too many) and only 5 of them were played on New Year's Day (too few). New Year's Day is supposed to be a day to park in front of the TV and enjoy some of the greatest matchups of the year...and the only 5 options we had this year were the Rose, Orange, Gator, Outback and Capitol One Bowls. Pathetic. There was nearly as much coverage of the Rose Parade as there was of college football. When the Outback and Capitol One Bowls are 2 of the top 5 New Year's bowl games, something is simply not right.

If there was a tourney, as there should be, the first round should be played on New Year's Day...it would be perfect. 8 (hopefully) meaningful games. THAT is a day on the couch I could truly enjoy.

I basically used up a "Day on the couch doing nothing" credit without getting to enjoy it.

i watched like 10 seconds of the rose bowl before i realized what a joke it was. usc is like a pro team. i did watch the entire bc game as depressing as it was. other than that i will probably watch the title game and thats it

bring on the tourney!!!

the texas vs ohio st game in the fiesta bowl was sick

i didnt see any of the utah/bama game but the utes must be pissed about no shot for the title after going undefeated. how is that fair?
