NHL All Stars Named (What a joke!)

video
The NHL All Star starters were announced today, and very predictably they are absolutely absurd. Twelve All Star starters represent just 4 NHL teams (Montreal, Pittsburgh, Chicago and Anaheim) and that one of those starters is Canadiens defenseman Mike Komisarek. Komisarek stats this season: 1 goal, 1 assist, 2 points, +2 rating in 21 games (he missed over a month after getting destroyed by the The Luc Ness Monster in a fight back in November). In other words his greatest contribution this season is the entertainment he provided B's fans by getting his face used as a punching bag for 30 seconds. That is All Star worthy? Ridiculous.

For the record, both Chara and Wideman EASILY should have been named ahead of Komisarek, to name just two. And though people say "it's only the starters" it will likely take a roster spot away from somebody like Wideman who deserved serious consideration...Komisarek didn't even deserve that!

...and also, it was nice to get an excuse to post this video.

The top 11 vote getters in the East were all either Canadiens (6) or Penguins (5). Seriously? Yes, seriously.

Boston players:

Marc Savard - 7th at forward
Patrice Bergeron - 8th at forward
Zdeno Chara - 4th at defense
Tim Thomas - 6th at goaltender as a write-in candidate

To give some idea as to how badly the folks in Montreal and Pittsburgh stuffed the ballot boxes, the top 2 forwards were from Pittsburgh the next 3 from Montreal. The top 2 defensemen were from Montreal, the next 2 from Pittsburgh. Chara, who finished 5th on D, got 1/3 as many votes as the guy who finished 4th.

This is seriously how we select the players who "deserve" to start in the All Star game? Seriously?

Seems like hockey really put all other sports to shame when putting together unjust All-Star teams. No easy task.

They were talking on MSG Network tonight about revamping the whole system.

hopefully that is not just talk. they should be revamping the system for the all star voting for all sports. if the best guys dont get elected then the game is not worth being played

i will say that boston fans had the chance to do the same thing but we didnt. i didnt vote once to be honest

but how was komisarek even on the ballot?

Going to the Rangers Canadiens game tomorrow night. Any messages I should send to our election fixing neighbors to the north?

i say you should congratulate them. the system sucks and they took advantage of it. hopefully this will force a change so it may turn out for the best even though its so stupid this year
