Mid-Week Miscellaneous

There is usually no shortage of discussions for Mid-Week Miscellaneous, and this week has proven to be no different.....BC beats UNC, rises to #17, and then loses to Harvard?.....Florida and Oklahoma meet tonight for the BCS Championship (though I'll still vote Utah #1).....the Sox have added a few new peices today, so now what will they do about their catching situation?.....should Pats fans hate the Browns now that Mangini is taking over as coach?.....thoughts on the futures of Pioli and McDaniels.....who should Pats fans be pulling for in the playoffs?......anything else?

Unless one of these teams wins VERY convincingly it will be interesting to see how Texas, Utah, etc do in the other polls. Looking forward to the game though.

I think Texas is overrated.
Love Utah - Rick Reilly had a good piece on ESPN this week.
I cannot believe the farce that is ths BCS - no reason not to have a playoff - such bull about the student athlete - take a look at the length of the hockey and basketball seasons. Why can they do it in 1AA but not 1A?

From living in Austin and seeing tons of UT games i dont think they were overrated. They would have been undefeated if a true freshman S didnt drop and int that anyone on this site could have made or if instead of going for the ball with one second left they needed to hit Crabtree. McCoy doesnt have a lot of super talent around him like some of the other schools have/had and still they lost only 1 game on a fluke last second TD. This is why a playoff system must be put in place, its the only way to find out who's overrated and who's underrated

I am actually surprised that Texas finished #4 behind USC. As you said they only lost 1 game and it was on a missed tackle / fluke play. Nobody else can say they were one play away from (possibly) winning the national title....

...which brings us back to Utah. They finished #2 behind Florida (48 to 16 in 1st place votes) in the final poll despite never losing. They literally could not have done anything this season to win the national title....that fact alone makes the system a joke.

Brad Penny looks like Lyndon Byers.

Rumor has it that Penny had trouble playing in LA because he couldn't stop chasing acresses.

Glad there's nothing against that in my profession.

A rule like that'll ruin L.A.

Dominique, 49. Damn!!

'Nique at 49 looks better than Antoine Walker at 32 and I bet he could beat him 1 on 1.

I once saw Dominique at the Garden in the twilight of his career (he was on the Celts). (It may've been like the very first year of the Fleetcenter).
And I was SHOCKED at how little he used his left hand. I mean to say he used it at all may be an overstatement. He would just keep banging his dribble out with his right, still cutting dudes up, as much as an old man can.

So glad to not have any Boston ties to Walker at this stage.
