In this week's edition of Free Agent Friday we look at the Bruins goaltending duo of Tim Thomas and Manny Fernandez. Both will be unrestricted free agents after the season, and both are having superb years for the B's (both rank among the top-4 NHL goalies in both goals against average and save percentage). Thomas (20-5-4, 2.09, .934) was named an All Star for the second consecutive year. Fernandez (14-3-1, 2.07, .928) is playing well enough to start for just about anyone. So with Tuukka Rask waiting in the wings in Providence, do the B''s trade one of these guys (Manny most likely) at the deadline before losing them for nothing? Will they re-sign either, or even both? Although a nice "problem" to have it's one that does need to be addressed. So what shoud B's GM Peter Chiarelli do?

I must admit I have been planning for weeks to feature Courtney Sims in FAF. He is a native of Roslindale (MA), was dominating the D-League and is a big man I thought the C's could use off the bench if they can't land a veteran like PJ Brown. Unfortunately he was signed on Tuesday by the Suns. Good luck Courtney!
As for the goalie situation, I have thought all along that trading Manny was the right move, but now that the B's are REALLY Cup contenders I'd hate to see the season go down the drains if the dealt Manny and TT the Bear went down. I vote to keep him.

Tuukka Rask (age 21) this season is 19-15-0 for Providence with a 2.46 GAA, .918 Save % and 3 shutouts.
keep them both for sure. this may be our best chance to win a cup since 72. you cant pass that up for whatever they would get for someone like manny fernandez since it probably wouldnt be that much anyway. who would give up a lot to get him? if anyone it would be another contender and why would we try to help out another contender? i say NO WAY they trade either one of these guys
After watching NHL all star game...Tim Thomas trade value could not be higher....what would you trade him for?
Chiarelli was quoted the other day as saying that nobody asks him about trading for Rask anymore because they are sick of getting such an emphatic "NO"
As for your question about TT the Bear, no way you trade him for anything under any circumstances. No chance.
