B's Report: Game 47 vs Maple Leafs

In their final game before the All Star break, the Bruins (33-8-5, 71 points) travel to Toronto tonight to take on the Maple Leafs (17-22-7, 41 points). These teams have met 4 times this season: Toronto won the first meeting and Boston has taken the last 3. The Bruins are coming off a disappointing shootout loss to St. Louis Monday, a game that they led by 2 with under 2 minutes to play. The Maple Leafs meanwhile are struggling mightily after a decent start. They are just 1-5-1 in their last 7 games. Hopefully tonight will not be the night Toronto gets back on track. Let's go Bruins!

After how well the B's have played in the first half they deserve to head into the break with a big win and not the thought of that Blues game on their minds.

By the way...

The Bruins are on pace to finish 60-15-9 for 129 points.

The NHL record for most wins in a season is 62 (1996 Red Wings) and the record for most points in a season is 132 (1977 Canadiens).

Not saying the B's will be able to get either mark, but pretty impressive that they are this close to being on pace for both records more than half way into the season.

I am in shock each time I look at the B's record, it is amazing.

Savard has not been near the same player he was earlier in the season the past few weeks. I think he, and the whole team, misses Kessel's speed and scoring touch a lot more than I thought they would.

The B's are struggling a lot the last few weeks and could really use this all-star break.

Did anybody see Thomas dive at the guy (Blake I think) with his fist extended while Blake was coming down on a semi breakaway? It was a very odd play. He made the save and gave the guy a flying double fist to the chest at the same time.
It was like Thomas had some beef with the guy for trying to score.

I once heard somebody say that everybody loves to win, but the truly competitive HATE to lose more than they love to win=n. That is how I feel when I see Thomas play net. I feel like he truly hates losing and getting scored on more than anything in life. I love that our goalie has that attitude.
