Brady on Schedule to Start in '09

A medical source close to the situation, as reported to The Boston Globe, says that the rehab of Tom Brady has the Pats QB on schedule to play in the 2009 season opener. Obviously this is great news for the Pats on multiple fronts. If true it means Brady will not need another surgery, and it was rumored a second surgery could cost him the entire '09 season. It also means the Pats can now actively shop Matt Cassel, not needing two high-priced QBs on the roster. So New England is not just getting back their record-breaking face of the franchise, they are also going to add whatever pieces they can muster in a deal for Cassel. It appears the Pats now have options, and having options is always a good thing...especially when one of those options is the greatest quarterback in the NFL!

I thought this was a very cool quote from Fernando Bryant:

"I'm a big Brady fan. I hope he comes back," said Bryant, who was cut by the Patriots out of training camp. , yesterday during Super Bowl Media Day. "He's one of the coolest guys I've ever met in my life. In my 10 years in the NFL, I've never seen a quarterback that interacts with the team the way he does: offense, defense, and special teams. I'm not going to lie. He's special."

Why didn't Brady go to any of the Pat's games this year?

He was still on the team right?

This is very exciting stuff. I want some more picks and get back to the great drafting.

I am watching the Pats-Rams superbowl in its entirety on NFL network. Man was Troy Brown great. As was Terrell Buckley and Antoine Harris...so clutch.

I could care less about Sundays game. Will someone please make this:

I just asked Mrs. WJ to make the Bacon Explosion for me and she said, "I am not making tht for anybody, it will kill them and I will go to jail for murder."

This sounds like a job for DuffMan.

John Madden: "Drew Bledsoe told me he had a vision that he would come in the game and that the Pats would win"

Um....one was true, Drew. 3 Super Bowls later, Brady is the Pats QB

Brady loved JR Redmond in the 2 minute drill

Feb 19 by the way is the deadline for franchising

Pats absolutely have to franchise Cassel if they think there is a market for it. There is, however, language in the deal that states that teams MUST make an honest negotiating effort before being able to place a franchise tag on anyone. Since the Pats don't really want to keep Cassel (one would imagine) it may be hard for them to prove they are making an honest effort to sign him prior to placing the tag on him.

Wonder if the NFL and/or any other franchises will question this.

Its great hearing that Brady will be ready for the opener and that he has been doing some dropping back and throwing. But is he ready to have guys rushing at him and not be to worried about the knee. Its alot harder to recover form the mental aspects of most injuries than it is the physical part. Even though Brady is physically gifted a big part of his game is mental. If/when Cassel is traded i would hope based on 1 seasons performance tha we could get late 1st rd or early 2nd rd + another pick or an proven player in a needed position.

funny that none of us paid much attention to the report that brady was behind schedule and yet the talk that he is ahead of schedule is believed 100% across the board. i am included in that but it is funny

Your point is dead on Bob.

If I might hypothesize as to why,
for a while now we have been getting every negative detail of recovery that has been heard about from Brady's camp.
This is kind of typical Belichick, especially for a situation of this magnitude.
There was always the hope/possibility that this could be being overplayed.

Since, this is the first tidbit we've heard on the positive, I tend to [not only want to, but] believe it.
I long have thought they were downplaying, but they surely have had no problem getting the word out when array.
I'll take this positive prognosis till I hear otherwise.
