Nickname Game: Jerod Mayo

Last week in the premier edition of the Nickname Game we attempted to find a nickname for Milan Lucic, the NHL’s hits leader this season (vote for your favorite now!). This week we jump from hockey to football and try to find a nickname for another of Boston’s up and coming young stars…Patriots inside linebacker Jerod Mayo. The Pats selected Mayo #10 in the 2008 NFL Draft out of Tennessee. The Hampton, VA native has been a starter since arriving in the NFL and currently is #9 in the league in tackles, #4 in solo tackles and easily #1 among rookies in both. So this week’s mission: find the potential NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year a nickname! (Once again the best options will be ‘finalists’ and voted on next week).

I hear what you are saying JBS about "Mayo" being good on it's own. I sort of feel that way about Rondo too.

But...that is why there will always be a "none of the above" choice on the Nickname Game poll. Don't want to force something horrible on a guy (aka the Kevin Paul DuPont special).

2 more (in an attempt to pick up the slack for the lame effort on the site this week)....

1. J.May (simple, I know)

2. Malcolm (because he's "in the middle")
