Rumors were circulating today that the Yankees are "going hard" after Manny Ramirez. It is believed they are contemplating an offer in the neighborhood of 3-years at $22-$25 million annually. Nothing is likely to be done until Tex signs (likely so Boras can attempt to get the Angels involved in the bidding) but let's assume for a moment that Manny does land in the Bronx for that amount. Is it a good deal for the Yankees? Should the Sox be scared? Would this affect how Manny is remembered in Boston? There was a wide range of feelings about Manny in the wake of his midseason trade out of Boston...what would the sentiment toward him be now if he ends up in pinstripes?

I think it would be a good signing for the Yanks, but only because money is no object to them. If it doesn't work out they'd buy out the final year or two and move on. If it does work they will have stuck it to Boston in the worst way.
I'm only truly scared of this move if we do not sign Tex. If we do I'll take our chances against the Yanks or anyone else with or without Manny.
Also, it will not affect how I feel about Manny. My mixed bag of emotions will remain mixed. Grateful for what he did, disappointed for how it ended. Whether he finishes in NY or LA or anywhere else that wont change.
My dream as an objective fan is Tex (pronounced "tesh?") to the Sox and Manny to the Dodgers...my dream as a subjective, "appreciate the storyline" move is Manny to the Angels, Tex to the Sox....my dream as "holy shit, I cannot wait for this year" is Tex to the Sox, Manny to the Yanks.
My nightmare is nobody to the Sox, Manny to the Yanks, Tex to the Angels
My insanity is Manny to Angels, Tex to Yanks
F Manny!!! Great offensive player but a scum bag of a teammate.
If he signs with the Yankees, he needs to be drilled in his first at bat as a Yankee at Fenway (April 24th i believe).
Manny in pinstripes wouldn't actually bother me....Manny winning a World Series in pinstripes may kill me however.
Talk is that the Sox are the leading candidates for Tex now, which means the Angels will likely get in on the Manny voting against the Dodgers. The Yanks may be out of this altogether, which would seem to indicate that Cashman, and not the Steinbrenners, is making the decisions in the Bronx.
Sound like the Angels have bowed out of the Teixeira bidding, meaning they could be bidders for Manny.
However, the same report said the Yanks might be getting back in the Tex bidding, meaning that there is a very real possibility of...
Tex to the Yankees
Manny to the Angels
Nobody to the Sox
manny is dead to me. i dont care what he does. not kidding
