B's Report: Game 25 vs Lightning

The Bruins (16-4-4) travel to Tampa Bay tonight to take on the struggling Lightning (6-11-8), who have won just one of their past ten games. Boston is clicking on all cylinders at the moment. They not only have the highest-scoring offense in the Eastern Conference, they have the stingiest defense in the entire NHL. Despite their struggles so far this year, the Lightning still have plenty of fire power up front, led by perennial All Stars Vincent Lecavalier (10-11-21) and Martin St. Louis (6-13-19). Veteran forwards Mark Recchi (6-9-15), Vaclav Prospal (5-10-15) and Ryan Malone (7-5-12) are all accomplished scorers as well. Tampa Bay also features the #1 overall pick of the 2008 NHL Draft, center Steve Stamkos. Stamkos has 3-8-11 totals in 25 games and a (-)11 +/- total. If the B’s are going to continue to be among the cream of the NHL’s crop, this is a game they should be able to win convincingly, even on the road.

Sorry I did not get up the game post earlier tonight (although I seem to blog B's games alone often).

In any case, great win. Final score 3-1 Bruins.

B's looked terrible/sluggish in the 1st, fell behind 1-0 after 1 and it would have been worse if not for Tim Thomas.

B's tied it on a Phil Kessel goal and then took the lead on a David Krejci shorthanded goal, just the B's second SHG of the year.

B's add a Kessel empty net goal in the final minute for the 3-1 final.

B's were outshot 31-26 in the game.

Fot the record, this whole avery incident is emblamatic of why the NHL ranks somewhere between men's volleyball and NCAA womens softball in terms of popularity. This whole avery "incident" such a desperate attempt to keep the NHL in the media. Who care that he said there is a trend of players dating his sloppy seconds...Is that really that aggregious? I mean shaq sang a song saying Kobe tell me how your ass tastes...the NFL has players getting shot and shooting themselves and MLB has the juice scandal. What does the NHL have for controversy...sloppy seconds. What a joke. Reality when it comes to sports the NHL is the sloppy seconds.
