The Pats play the Jets in two days and the J-E-T-S will have Ty Law on their side of the rivalry this time around. Law, who has yet to play in 2008, has signed with the Jets and will be in uniform on Thursday. He rejoins the team he originally left the Pats for after playing in New England from 1995-2004. He played in New York for only one season, but he led the AFC in interceptions (10) and was selected to the Pro Bowl during that 2005 season. The past two years he had played for the Chiefs. It appears that Law will see time at corner and perhaps even safety. He stated that, “I was real close to going elsewhere”, but didn’t disclose where that “elsewhere” was. Was it New England perhaps? Two bit questions: 1) Football-wise: What does the addition of Law mean for the Jets? And conversely, what would getting him have meant to the Pats? 2) Legacy: How does returning to the Jets, and presumably finishing his career there, affect Law’s legacy in New England? My guess is that Law could have helped the Pats this year, but at this point in the season his addition would have meant little, just as it will in New York. I do believe that this tarnishes his image here only slightly, as we’ve all known for years that Ty Law was all about Ty Law above and beyond anything or anyone else. I’m sure he’ll fit in just fine in New York.Tuesday, November 11, 2008
Ty Law Signs with the Jets

1. It will be interesting to see if this affects Law at all on The RBSF Ladder (currently #47).
2. Wonder if Wilhite would have given up #24 if he came back to NE.
based on how his size looks, seems like we could have used him at Linebacker. I bet he is super slow. We need leadership though in the DB area. Hobbs has potential, but he makes too many mistakes.
Hobbs has played great this year in my opinion. A few mistakes for sure, but not a ton considering he has been #1 corner. Plus the Pats defense relies on team schemes a lot and I don't think our safetys have played well at all this year. I think Brandon Merriweather has actually been the best safety on the team all year. Tough to play a zone defense and look good as a corner if the safetys aren't doing their jobs.
I think Law will help the Jets but not enough.
Fuck Ty Law.
I think it should push him down acouple of spots - but I don't think it should push him down more than 1 or 2 spots.
On a side note, (and not related to Boston at all) I am not sure if any of you are familiar with how Jeff Feagles (the Giants punter) ended up with #18. He wore # 10 until Eli came around - and Feagles said he did not want money for the number, but Eli would have to pay for his family to go down to Disney for a week. Eli paid, and Feagles took #17 and Eli was happy with #10. The next year the Giants signed Burress, and Shockey wore #80, so Burress wanted to wear #17. Feagles made another deal. If Burress paid for an outdorr kitchen at the Feagles summer house he could have #17 - so he now wear #18.
I thought this was interesting - and creative - and was wondering if anyone (like Wilhite) would ever make this deal again.
PS I am willing to sell my very original blogger name for a trip to Disney - any takers?
i think al jefferson worked out something with toine when he returned to boston after he wore 88 for 2 games. i forget what he paid for it though. a watch maybe?
