It Appears AD is Done for the Year

Pats linebacker Adalius Thomas left the game yesterday in the 2nd Quarter and did not return. The early word is that Thomas may have a broken arm and is “likely out” for the rest of the season. Since Thomas plays more than 90% of the defensive snaps for New England and is part of all of their various formations this is obviously a significant loss. Although it appears Pierre Woods would get first crack at replacing him in their base defense (as he did yesterday) the Pats might need to get somewhat creative in trying to cover up his loss. Following the season-ending losses to Brady, Maroney and Harrison it is almost unbelievable that yet another key Patriot is likely done for the year. What does this mean to the Patriots? Who will pick up the slack? How does this compare to the other 3 season-ending injuries to starters? And, are you thoughts about how the Pats will do this season significantly altered from they were before finding out this news about AD?

Pats have not reported anything on this yet, but Thomas apparently told friends he has a broken forearm, is going to have surgery on Thursday and is done for the year...so assuming that he's all done is a pretty safe assumption.

Is it time to see Vince Redd in a real game?

I would 100% love that.

I do think just because of the # of roles Thomas plays this is probably the 2nd biggest loss behind Brady, but I must add it is still a VERY distant 2nd.

I am also a big fan of Woods. I know others (Sean comes to mind) didn't even think he should make the team but I think he plays hard and his only mistakes seem to come from trying TOO hard to make something happen. I never mind that.

If they dont activate Redd they could go after Colvin, i believe he's still a free agent. I would like to see Redd get a chance he played real well in the preseason and i thought he earned a chance. Its a real short week so i think they need to make a decision by today or tomorrow. It would only make since to use Redd since he's been practicing with the team anyway.

I was talking about how I think Eric Alexander should not make the team.

If he were a hockey player he'd be back out there this week.

The Pats weekly isnt up yet so i figured i'd put some other injury news in this post...

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Tom Brady is back in Foxborough working out in the New England Patriots training room.

New England's star quarterback has undergone two surgeries on his left knee that was injured in the opener against Kansas City, ending his season. He has battled an infection that set in after the operation, which was done in the Los Angeles area.

Brady has been in Foxborough for at least a week and his teammates are happy to see him. Running back Kevin Faulk said Tuesday that Brady is "doing good." Defensive end Jarvis Green said it was good to see Brady hanging around and smiling.

GMAC, I'm getting rid of the weekly team posts. With the game posts there wasn't much happening in them. Perhaps we can bring them back in time. For now I'm going to go with...
1.Daily features
2.Game posts
3.Important current events

I'm still working to find the formula that will produce the most contributions possible. I'm confident we'll find it. Of course any/all suggestions are always welcomed.

So....
Don't feel as bound by the specific post, and I'll try to be better about not yelling at people for not posting in the "right" area. With no weekly posts that line is blurred anyway.

With that said, injury updates are certainly relevant in this post.

Sean, I stand corrected. You said you'd rather keep Izzo than Woods (which I did/do disagree with) but it was Alexander that you bashed as being useless.

Glad to see you again though!

woods looked good vs the jets but i think the game showed that eventually you cant replace everybody even if the other guys do a decent job. decent to good does not replace good to great. eventually the slight differences add up to a big difference
