After a very convincing victory over the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football (41-7) the Patriots find themselves at 4-2 and just 1 game behind the Buffalo Bills for first place in the AFC East. If the playoffs began today the Pats would be the #5 seed in the AFC as the top Wild Card team. Not too shabby for a team of whom people asked me this week, “should they just tank the season and go for the draft pick?” We had plenty to discuss after last week’s loss, and there is just as much to talk about after this week’s win: Is Cassel improving or did he simply benefit from the Broncos horrible pass defense? Maroney out, Jordan didn’t play and Morris left at halftime…what are the Pats going to do at RB from here on out? Stephen Neal returned to his right guard spot and looked solid. How much of a difference can one man make on the line? Who is the Pats defensive MVP thus far? Jerod Mayo? Ty Warren? Ellis Hobbs? How serious is the Rodney Harrison injury that sent him to the sideline? And if Rodney is gone for a while (even the season) what will that mean for the Patriots? Whether you want to talk about these issues, look back on the Broncos win or look ahead to the Rams game next Sunday, here is your spot to do it!Tuesday, October 21, 2008

Rodney said "I'm done. I'm done" when he was taken off the field. I assume that means he believes he's done for the year...which likely means he is done period.
2 Questions....
1. Do the Pats sign John Lynch?
2. If Rodney never plays another down, is he in the Hall of Fame?
I think Rodney is borderline for the Hall... as you've talked about before their induction habits are often anything but logical.
I think we may pick up Lynch... but what do I know. If knowing the system is as important as they say it is it seems like he would be first in line for the job.
according to boston.com Rodney is done for the year with a torn quad.
Pats will need to sign somebody at S Lynch would be the best guy to fill in for Harrison. I think they should play J.Sanders and Meriweather as the 2 safties.
There is only one "saftey" in the HOF. But its hard to compare numbers they didnt track tackles when Larry Wilson played. But based on the other DBs in the hall, Harrison wont be in the hall. If he is it wont be right away.
We had a lil discussion last night about some of the available RBs, nothing to impressive out there. But if Morris is hurt i think that becomes a need. We cant run Faulk,Evans and Green-Ellis and expect alot from our running game.
I think Mayo is the Pats defensive MVP right now followed by the underrated Warren.
I want Rodney to be our Defensive coordinator next year - or our Defensive Backs coach. Make Pees or Capers move on and get some blitz minded guys on our staff to challenge our current system. Can you imagine if Meriwheather blitzed once a game? Can you imagine a coacing staff with Bruschi or Vrabel as LB coach, Rodney as DB coach? Would be amazing.
Oh, on that note, Bruschi should retire.
Because of our situation, I was not even upset about Rodney - just that kind of year.
And yes, John Lynch has to be signed
Did anyone see Sammy Morris' injury? I missed it. If you did, please explain it...did we walk off field? Carried off?
Rodney is in the hall of fame for being the best at his position for so many years...and then being a key to winning super bowl
also - did you see Bruschi go see Rodney on the field and then when he approached Belichick his lips CLEARLY said "knee" to BB. Either he was lying on purpose knowing camera was on, the pats are lying about the quad, or Bruschi was just totally wrong and should avoid becoming a trainer
I didnt see any injury to Morris he just stopped playing. I think the Pats had a big lead and wanted to give Green-Ellis some time to play and see what he could do. Green-Ellis played pretty well against the terrible Denver D. I've seen reports that when Morris left the locker room he wasnt limping. If he had something wrong i would imagine he would have had a limp.
JBS, I also wasn't overly upset by the Rodney situation...in part because he honestly hasn't looked that good this year.
But even though I wasn't upset for myself I was upset for him. Injury is a horrible way for a career to end (if this is it).
As for the Hall, I do think his reputation for being a "dirty" player and the HGH situation will both work against him. He is, however, the only 30/30 player in NFL history (sacks/interceptions) and that cannot be ignored.
Would LOVE for him to stay involved in the Pats franchise in some way.
Talk of signing Ty Law to fill the void at safety. Not sure how I feel about it, but certainly interesting.
How did Cassell's numbers stack up against Brad Johnson's
When asked about signing John Lynch yesterday BB responded "our roster is full"
