Mid-Week Miscellaneous

Just a few of the limitless topics to be discussed in this week’s edition of “Mid-Week Miscellaneous”: Who gets your vote for Sox 10th Player Award this year? Will Lowell, Drew, Lugo or Beckett be able to help the Sox down the stretch and into the playoffs? (I say yes, maybe, no and yes). Could CC Sabathia with the NL Cy Young, or even MVP, despite not joining the NL until July? (while on the subject of CC, was that a no-hitter or not?) Is Ellsbury a legitimate Rookie of the Year candidate, and who is his competition? Any thoughts about baseball incorporating instant replay, or A-Rod making history because of it? Could the Yanks still make a run at the post-season? And of course, anything else you’d like to talk about that isn’t covered elsewhere, here’s your spot….

This weekend Duffman told me I gave Brady too much credit for the Patriots past success, and lack of success in th preseason. I apologize to all RBSF's. I did not mean to give too much credit to the record setting man that was unanimously voted the best football player in the toughest level of competition! Sorry, I didn't mean to emphasize how qualified Brady actually was. Anyway, I actually have 2 questions:

1. Since Eric Alexander is utterly useless, what are the chances that Seau is back in a Pats uniform. If Bruschi goes down you are looking at either 2 rookies inside, or a rookie and Eric Alexander. Their other option is to have Thomas move back inside, which I would rather see, but I will save that rant for another day.

2. When will they resign John Lynch? That was just a silly move to cut him.

Bosley, always okay to talk about the Celtics...that's the beauty of mid-week miscellaneous, you can talk about whatever you like.

Anyone else see the story about Tatum Bell stealing Rudi Johnson's stuff after being waived when the Lions signed him? So weird.

Did I mis-hear them or was the SC QB's name really Smelly?

In NYC for the month....and there has already been a ton of trash talking in my direction about the Super Bowl. However, the most interesting comment yet is from a latino Yankee fan who accused the Red Sox of being racist and not keeping/recruiting latin players anymore. He said we are just a bunch of white boring guys with no "flavor" as he put it. Clearly a Pedro/Manny reference only I bet...maybe even Hanley. So stupid...but...New Yorkers will try anything at this point. That said, which team has the best latin players? The Sox have Papi, Lopez, Manny Delcarmen, Lugo, Lowell....

Tonight if you watch Friday night fights look for the guy in the Tom Brady jersey and the white B hat. I'll probably be there and i can assure you i'll be the only one in a Pats jersey.

Pretty sad:
Seattle, Washington and Pittsburgh have all been eliminated from playoff contention already.

Cincinnati and Baltimore have both been eliminated in their division but remain alive in the Wild Card chase (for another day or so).

Imagine rooting for these teams?

...and Miami, St.Louis and Detroit have all just been eliminated from the NFL Playoffs after Week 1. Amazing.

I know this has been asked many times for many years, but how the heck does Matt Millen still have a job?

Will Blackmon(GB) WR/DB/KR..MNF return TD..BC Eagles all over the NFL doing big things.

Seattle is the saddest case. Supersonics left. Seahawks lose week 1 to the Bills. And no Mariner hopes.
