Nobody knows when Bill Belichick is going to end his reign as head coach of the New England Patriots, and Pats fans certainly hope it's not anytime soon. But let's imagine for a second that it is soon....very soon. Let's say this turns out to be BB's final season in Foxboro. With the team in search of a successor the HC of the NYJ, Eric Mangini, announces that he would like to be considered for the Pats opening. What would it take for you to back the hiring of perhaps Public Enemy #1 in Patriot Nation? A public apology for his part in the "Spygate" fiasco? A speech severing all ties with the J-E-T-S and all they stand for? Is there anything that could convince you to get behind hiring Mangini as the next head coach of your beloved football team? Since there is always some price to make just about anything pallatable, the question here remains: what would it take?

For me it would start with an agreement that he is never shown on televsion, ever, never gets to talk to the press, and his name is not ever mentioned in print either....a total media boycott.
See no evil, hear no evil, read about no evil....it's a good starting point.
All I think I would need is a total apology and an admission that he did the Pats wrong. I think he could do a good job with a good team
I'd take him outside and flog him like that American who vandalized Singapore in '94.
Then I'd offer any of my friends the same opportunity.
Then all of Patriot nation.
If he still wanted to be coach (at the end of all beatings), he'd be sent up to the front office boys & they could go through the usual procedure to see if he was an adequate candidate.
If Pioli and Kraft think he's the best fit than i'd have to be onboard. I think some of the genius credit of BB has to go to those other guys.
I don't want any apology from him, what i want is a statement from him that goes something like... "I knew me and my team couldnt beat them, so i tried to get an advantage. I had no idea it would blow up like it did. Since i put the team through a shit storm of nonsense i'd like to say we will win multiple Super Bowls while i'm the coach. The 1st day of training camp i have an open invite to Bill and the other guys that were on the roster when i put in my tampon and turned into a gossiping bitch to beat me senseless. After they finish beating me back into a man i'll buy them lunch and we'll move on."
Other potential replacement candidates.(in no particular order)
Bob Stoops
Jason Garrett
Bill Cowher
Monte Kiffin
Jim Johnson
I know college coaches arent real popular right now but i really think Stoops would do well in the NFL.
If it's a few years and not after this one I'd like to see Romeo Crennel back on the sidelines.
Cowher, though a good coach, would just be a little too weird to see him in Patriots garb.
I think Josh McDaniel is likely being groomed for the job, and he likely has been told this. Why else would he refuse to even interview for the openings last year? He has taken over the position (HC in waiting) that Magini took himself out of.
I must admit that I'm pretty shocked that everyone would be so cool with this though.
Favre now the Jets QB
