In case you missed it the Boston Red Sox are undefeated. Okay, so they have technically lost 48 games this season, but since the trade deadline passed the Sox are 2-0. Prior to the first game of the Jason Bay era, pitching coach John Farrell could be seen wearing a t-shirt that read: “The Season Starts Today”. This is indicative of the Sox newfound mindset. They have finally been able to put the Manny fiasco behind them and are able to worry about one thing and one thing only: winning baseball games. So far they are batting 100% at doing just that. And though people were worried about how David Ortiz would be affected by Manny’s departure, it appears that may be cancelled out by how positively affected others are with him gone (nice 2 HR game by Youk yesterday). Certainly the undefeated ways will not last forever, but for the first time in a long time I am thoroughly enjoying watching and rooting for the Sox, and it appears as though they are enjoying themselves too. A potentially long summer has become a potentially very fun summer…even if they do lose a game or two along the way.

Quote from Jon Lester: "We're just having fun". So am I...finally.
...make that 3-0
Bay is batting .364 w/ a HR, 3 RBIs and slugging .818 since coming to Boston.
Ramirez is batting.615 w/ 2 HRs, 5 RBIs and slugging 1.154 since going to LAD.
Ramirez has better #s but the Sox have won 3 in a row, LAD won 2 in a row so its working for both teams.
Thanks for all you did in Boston Manny, not sure why you didnt wanna play in Boston but i hope your happy in LA and please dont play for the Yanks i wanna still be able to like you.
I think the Sox should just roll with Jacoby for the rest of the year. Coco struggles to make contact and when he does, it often is in the air
This is not towards you personally GMAC, but I do hope people don't try and compare Manny & Bay's numbers for the rest of the year. I'm quite certain Manny is going to put up huge numbers in LA, just like I'm sure he would have quit on the Sox and did little to nothing to help us win here. It's apples and oranges in my book.
Also...the one guy on the entire team who does not seem to have any fun is Buchholz. I don't know if it's lack of confidence or too much instruction or what...but he looked more confident last year for sure.
Great interview with Theo on WEEI yesterday. If you didn't hear it you should try to find it online. So brutally honest. Basically said they got what they could while at the same time making the team better.
