What if Rondo Can't Go?

We all witnessed Rajon Rondo go down with an ankle injury in Game 3 of The Finals on Sunday night. He did return, but according to his blog entry today he was only 50% when he came back and was unable to make sharp cuts. He did not participate fully at today's practice. Even though he says he will play in Game 4 on Thursday, clearly he may not be 100%. And he may not be able to finish even if he is able to start. So IF (and hopefully that really is a big "if") Rondo is not able to go in Game 4, or his playing time is severely limited, what happens with the Celtics? Do they still have a chance? Who gets his minutes? Sam Cassell? Eddie House? How about Tony Allen? TA did start earlier this year against LA when Rondo couldn't go and had a solid game (16 points, 4 assists and the primary defender on Kobe who went 6-25 in a 19-point C's road win). Since T.Allen hasn't played in so long however, and his dribbling "skills" drive me insane, House has to be the call. Cassell has proven he's not effective in this series and he's too selfish with the ball to run the first unit. If Rondo can't go, and TA is not 100%, let's hope the Celts make a House call. If so they can still win Game 4, with or without Rondo.

I cannot believe that the Celtics are in the Finals and I am actually hoping Tony Allen is healthy enough to play (if Rondo can't go). Literally no player over the past 3 years as made me as crazy to watch, but I think Cassell is giving him a run for his money in that category. I'd take him over Sam (if healthy).

Rumor is he's going to play so (fortunately) this looks like it may be a non-issue. Check back if that changes.

Rondo plays 40+ minutes tonight as Doc admits he fields calls from Belichick about how to deal with injuries and the media. Definitely a good strategic move (if strategic)

I think if Doc was listening to Belichick his starting point guard wouldn't be discussing his injury status on his blog before the game...or even have a blog for that matter.
