The C's have now proven they can dominate the Hawks in Boston, but could they please just win one in Atlanta tonight so I don't have to deal with the stress of a Game 7 so early in the playoffs? To be honest I'm not sure why home court appears to be such an advantage in basketball, or any sport for that matter. I know there are the "comforts" of home and routine, etc, but the game is still played the same way in between the lines. I'm' confused asto how the Celtics can make Atlanta their whipping boys in The Jungle, then look so inept in the two away games. The only sport where there is a true on-field advantage at home is baseball, because the home team gets to bat last. Great teams in any sport are able to win on the road, especially against an opposition that should have been first-round fodder for them. If the Celtics hope to turn a great regular season into a great season they will have to step up and win a few road games along the way. Relying on staying perfect in Boston is a risky proposition to say the least. The bet here is that the Celtics win by 5 in a game that wont be as close as the final score indicates. Look for Ray Allen, who was big in the 2nd half of Game 5, to start strong and get the Celtics out to an early lead. However, if he is unable to contain Joe Johnson as he was in Game 4 let's hope Doc doesn't wait so long to find an alternative defensive plan (Posey or Pierce). The first 5 minutes of each half will dictate the outcome of this one. Smart money says C's wrap up the series with a 96-91 victory in the ATL.

PREDICTION
Celtics win 97-92
Game MVP = Garnett
Keys to game = make and and all free throws. 80% as a team and we win game.
free throws have been the celtics downfall. I think after game 5, doc has to think that james posey on joe johnson is a good matchup to have.
In case you missed it.....
Celtics win 96-91 (did you steal my score Jon?)
MVP - Ray Allen
Key to the Game - First 5 minutes of each half decides the outcome.
I agree w/ Jon--although I think I know who he is and am embarassed that I do agree with him. Hawks have been hitting ALL of their freethrows this series and the celts have been brutal.
I love Leon Powe and think he needs to play 20 minutes. He hits the boards harder than anyone on their team--always in great position--played great the other night.
MVP-Celtics defense.
As I said before Game 5, while I think free throws are important I also think that if this game comes down to free throws at the end they could be in trouble already since they Hawks seem so much looser. However this is the first time the Hawks have actually faced elimination so that "loose" feeling may be gone tonight...which would result in a Boston blowout.
I said the first 5 minutes of each half would determine the outcome. 5 minutes into the game it's Celtics by 3.
jj is an idiot. people just dont realize it b/c smith and horford are bigger idiots. paul is goin off for 34 tonight to match his number!
maybe more he alread dropped 11 in the 1st!!
Is Eddie House being underused? I know Cassell is more of a true point guard...and he's ok. But the C's had a good thing going when Eddie was coming off the bench and hitting 3's. Sam slows things down too much.
I can't believe how much better than the Hawks the Celtics are. They are only up by 1 and nobody has done much of anything. Pierce looked great in the 1st quarter then had 1 point in the 2nd. Rondo looks shaky. Allen is mostly invisible. KG looks good on D, but has done little on offense. Powe looked solid when he first game in but the bench as a whole didn't look good. K-Perk did have 8 points on 4-5 shooting, but played only 12 minutes and got in foul trouble again (not all his fault, the refs give him no breathing room). If ANYBODY gets hot for the C's in the 2nd half they should be able to win this running away.
By the way McMac...good call on House. I loved him in the rotation. I'm just nervous he's been sitting so long that he hasn't been playing enough to do much if he gets in there.
that SOMEBODY is paul. give him the ball and get out of his way. they went away from him too much in the 2nd.
i like sam i am evn if he didnt have a good half he did play good in game 5
20 minutes is 28 minutes too short for Leon Powe. He is THE man. Does Mike Woodson annoy anybody else besides me?
the whole damn atlanta team annoys me including their coach
Yes, Mike Woodson is annoying. He looks like Cleveland from The Family Guy (if Cleveland shaved his head).
WHY IS THIS UNIT ON THE FLOOR TO START THE 4TH??????????
PJ Brown sits for 3 quarters...they put him on the floor to begin the crucial 4th, and in 3 minutes he gets 0 points (0-1), no rebounds, no assists and 3 fouls. Once again, why was he out there to start the 4th?
Why go for 3 down by 2? If they go OT it's advantage Celtics because they already thought they had the game won.
Really well designed play for the Rondo 3 at the end.
I honestly don't like to pin losses on coaches but Doc Rivers did SO many things poorly this game that there is no doubt that an average coaching job could have made up the 2 points. Trust me, there is other blame to go around, but I am so frustrated by this game in so many ways I can't even comment until Sunday.
Anyone out there that sees a bright spot in any of this?
they still cant beat us in boston and that is where the game is sunday. see ya then!
