The RBSF Ladder - Rules

The RBSF Ladder is a ranking of the Top 100 sports people in the history of Boston sports. What is "top" based on? That is truly in the eye of the beholder. Production, championships, longevity, loyalty, likeability...these are all factors into deciding who moves up (or down) the ladder. The only parameter is that only a person's time in Boston should factor into your votes (so KG's' time in Minnesota, for example, is irrelevant on the ladder). The original rankings have Celtics star Bill Russell in the #1 rung. He won 11 titles in 13 years, played his entire Hall of Fame career for Boston, is considered the greatest winner and greatest defensive player ever, was the first black coach to win an NBA title.....all things considered, it's dkawful difficult to argue with #6 being #1. But since not everyone may agree (perhaps Bobby Orr, Larry Bird, Tom Brady or Ted Williams is your #1) each week there will be a vote to determine if someone is able to move up the ladder. This will be featured each Wednesday in "Wednesday's Challenge". Based on email suggestions there will be two people chosen to go head to head. If the higher ranked person wins then everything stays the same. If the lower ranked person wins the two of them switch spots. Unranked players can also challenge in an attempt to get onto the board. The only rules are that the lower person can only challenge a person within 10 spots of their's, and that the higher ranked person stays put in the event of a tie. DK will decide each week which suggested challenge he finds the most interesting, post it for Wednesday's Challenge, and post a poll for one week to determine the winner. Athletes, owners, coaches and Boston natives are all eligible for a spot on the ladder. How long will Russell be able to maintain his status as #1? Check back regularly to find out!
